    I turned around when I heard my name, and I smiled when I saw this fifth grader named Riley Evans run toward me just as I was about to go inside of Cooking With A Twist. I’d signed up for this mentoring program at my church called Sister-to-Sister, and Riley was the kid sister assigned to me. She was so cute and had a real bubbly personality, which was why she practically tackled me to the ground as she gave me a big hug. I laughed and gave her the hugest hug back, and we walked inside so we could get started on our kids cooking class.

    One of my best friends named Kacee Howard had signed up for the program, too, and she was already inside with her kid sister, a fourth grader named Amber. It’s interesting because Kacee and I would become stepsisters this August when her mom married my dad. Her mom, Miss Nicole, had brought us to today’s cooking class because she’d signed up to be a volunteer chaperone.

    I guess now is a good time to tell you more about Kacee and the rest of my best friends, Ahmani Stewart and Londyn Parker. We called ourselves The Slumber Sisters because we have sleepovers at each other’s homes every second and fourth Saturday of the month. And then we go to church together the next morning.
