STOLEN CHILD

Walking around the camp site, we checked the ground for the best place to set up our tents.

‘How about here?’ I asked my mum, Lavona Solomon, now 57.

‘Lovely view of the sea, perfect,’ she said happily.

After we’d dumped our stuff, we lit a fire for a BBQ.

It was another gorgeous weekend with Mum, my dad, Michael Solomon, now 54, and my big brother.

Living in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa, we were a very outdoorsy family.

I had many happy childhood memories – I felt blessed to have wonderful parents.

They wanted me to be happy.

But one day at school, back in 2015, I started hearing gossip that a new girl had started who look just like me.

It’s probably exaggerated, I thought, thinking we probably just had the same colour hair.

But then I bumped into someone in the school corridor.

‘Sorry,’ I said, looking up.

I stopped dead.

Surely not… I thought.
