About this ebook

Biblical Timeline to Faith deciphers biblical prophecies while presenting the dates in the Bible alongside the Gregorian and Julian calendars.

Jesse H. Carter, who has been studying the Bible for twenty years, reveals the date Christ was born, the date of creation, the date of Christ's crucifixion, the date Israel left Egypt, and the dates Satan was bound in and loosed from the bottomless pit. He also lays out the seventy weeks of prophecy and explains how the number of the beast is calculated.

The author also observes that fear for one’s eternal soul is the first step to faith. It is this fear that motivates us to get to know God. Fear is the beginning for all of us who seek God—and wisdom is the result.
Filled with calendars charts, and figures to explain exactly when events occurred in the Bible, this book will serve as a valuable resource for Christians, scholars of history, and others.

    PREFACE

When I began studying the Bible in 2003, I was not sure if I believed the Bible was inspired by God. I was not sure if there was a hell, if there was a heaven, or even if God was real. I feared eternal damnation enough to give an honest effort in finding the truth; the idea of eternal damnation did scare me. I had attended church as a child, but still I was not sure. I had gained some measure of worldly wisdom, but I had almost no godly wisdom. My dad told me to make sure I get to know God, and I have told my children to do the same. So I started studying, trying to gain God’s wisdom, understanding, and faith. My journey to faith began as every Christian’s journey begins: fear. There are many verses in the Bible which say fear is the beginning of faith, love, wisdom, and so on. Some people try to rationalize that fear does not mean fear in the Bible. Fear means fear, as the following verses indicate:

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28)

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7)

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)

This book is truly the path I took to faith. It makes sense that we should define faith according to the Bible. It is in the title of my book, and faith is what pleases our Father.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

We have never seen or heard our Father. It is the evidence he has left which we must decipher to find hope, wisdom, and faith that he is who he says he is. That evidence is in the scriptures. There are many mysteries in the Bible which the Father has put to us, challenges, and I diligently seek the answers. I have found some of them. If you take the path I have taken, which I have recorded in this book, you will find faith that the Bible is absolutely true. You will have faith without bounds, as I do. You will find answers to even more of the mysteries. You will know, as I know, that He is.

I know there are other paths to faith, other ideas which can help one to believe God is real and Jesus is his only begotten Son. I would love to know those other paths, and maybe I will find other paths. This book will help accomplish this for someone who is unsure. I know it from experience.

Fear for one’s eternal soul is the first step to faith. The fear motivates us to get to know God. Fear is the beginning for all of us who seek God. Wisdom is the result. Many verses have motivated me to do this work; some of those verses follow:

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

The following verses are from Proverbs 4:5–7:

Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Studying the Word of God is surely necessary to find faith. I believe this timeline and all the studying that came with it have given me faith without bounds. Also, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. While studying, we must believe the Bible is the truth, even when the world disagrees. It is hard to do, but it is possible with God. I know that God is real, his Son died for our sins, and the Bible is the true Word of God. I am unable to lose my faith. This timeline is a big part of my faith. The work has increased my faith. For the rest of my life, I will get wisdom, and with all my getting, I will get understanding. Wisdom is referred to as she and her in the Bible.

Wisdom comes from God. It is the gift of God. If you study endlessly and do not understand, ask God for wisdom and understanding. He will give it to you. There is wisdom that is easy, and wisdom that takes time to realize. The Bible calls that easy wisdom milk. The wisdom that is harder to understand is the mysteries, and it is called strong meat. Every beginner has need of milk, and as wisdom guides you along, you will gain the faith and ability to understand the strong meat.

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:12–14)

There is much strong meat in this book. Very strong meat. It is very hard to accept one of these bits of wisdom. This book can be read in a short time, but it will take time for most to realize the truth in it. We cannot all agree all the time. Sometimes we can. Seek him diligently; you will find him. The Bible says that truth offends. It is not a fuzzy, feel-good thing. It is a rock of offense. We are told to love the next life and hate this life. Do not place all your eggs in this basket; there is an eternal one waiting for us. I hope we all meet in heaven.

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:15–17)

I first saw this verse in a doctor’s office, while reading a Gideon’s Bible. It was a revelation to me. The holy scriptures are able to make us wise unto salvation through faith, which is an amazing thing. Make thee wise unto salvation is a monumental statement. I want to be saved. Study the Bible a lot, until you understand it, which saves souls.

In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead. Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee ; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like. (2 Chronicles 1:7–12)

Solomon asked for wisdom; he prayed for it. God gave him what he asked for and more. I pray that God give me all his wisdom, all the time. First a person must fear God, then wisdom, understanding, and knowledge will come, with prayer and study. There is no way around the work.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. (Psalm 111:10)

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (Revelation 13:18)

Revelation 13:18 is the verse that ties everything together. This challenge to us to be wise got me counting. My path involves a lot of counting. It is only addition and calendars. Learn the calendars. Build the biblical calendars, and the Gregorian calendar, and the Julian calendar. Make your own calendar comparison. Count the kings. Compare the calendar of Creation with the calendar at Jesus’s death, and the calendar in AD 70 (they are all the same biblical calendar). Convert the dates from history to biblical dates. Build your own timeline. Learn the seventy weeks prophecy. Know when Christ was born and when he died. Count and find the patterns which repeat throughout history.

These verses and others like them have inspired me to get wisdom with all the getting, because it can save you. Of course, my math background led me to start counting, as the book of Revelation instructs. I also prayed to God to give me wisdom and understanding. I started counting the years from Creation. I began this timeline because the Bible is full of dates, and I wanted to know exactly when these dates occurred. Anytime the Bible says, Here is wisdom, I try to understand that verse. The verse in Revelation 13:18 inspired me to count everything. One of the counts I began to work on is the number of years since Creation. My father told me he believed a man can count the years since Creation using the Bible. It is a lot of work, but if you can commit to it, you can obtain faith without measure and salvation. I have included the scripture used for each entry in the count. Please try to do the work yourself. Use my count to assist you, but make the work your own.

I would also like to summarize the wisdom I obtained while doing this work. Obviously, I figured out what year Creation occurred. I added up the years from Creation to the end. I figured out the seventy weeks prophecy from Daniel, which also gave me the date of Christ’s birth. I figured out the biblical calendar, the priestly courses, and the jubilees. I know the biblical calendar has only seven unique calendars, which repeat themselves perpetually. I created a calendar comparison which puts the Gregorian, Julian, and biblical calendars side by side. From this comparison, we can convert a biblical date to the Gregorian or Julian dates, or vice versa. Also, I have counted the number of the beast. I know this is finally the wisdom the Bible speaks of. I found that there are 666 Mosaic laws. I have determined when the thousand-year reign of Christ with Israel began and ended. I have also determined when Satan and the false prophet were bound in and loosed from the bottomless pit. I figured out who Nero truly was and when his true birth and death happened. I also figured out when the tribulation occurred. I know the date of Creation. I know who the Holy Ghost is. I know where the Garden of Eden was located. I know who the ten kings of Rome were.

I think I have tapped into the wisdom of God. I have asked for it in prayer many times. Maybe he answered my prayer. I have seen men try to fit prophecies into calendars which have 365 or 366 days, which cannot work. My biblical calendars fit perfectly with prophecy.

A man asked me, Why are you the first to know these things? I answered that maybe I was not the first. Maybe others who learned these things were stopped by naysayers. But there is always a first. Computers have made work like this easier to accomplish, and computers have not been around for long. I know that all this cannot be accepted overnight. It took twenty years for me to learn these things. I know the first instinct is to reject new ideas, but I only advise you to figure these things out for yourself. Make sure you do not reject truth. Give it time. Realize it as slowly as you need to. The amount of truth you absorb in this life has a direct effect on how much of you is left after the fire burns away the chaff in your heart. Fill your heart with truth, which most of the time is in direct contradiction with the world. That is a big indicator of truth. The world will hate you, as it hated Jesus. Good luck.

There is only one thing which God holds above faith, and even though one may have faith without this, without it, the faith counts for nothing. That other thing is charity. Charity is actually kindness to others. Be good to people, even your enemies. In this book, I have shown a step-by-step way to obtain unmeasurable faith, much wisdom, and knowledge. Charity is a decision we all make. We need both faith and charity to enter heaven. It has to be practiced. Much of the time, we tend to reject people who ask any kindness of us, especially an enemy. Be kind.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:2)

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. (1 Corinthians 13:13)

Practice charity. The book of Galatians teaches us how to walk in the Spirit. We can maximize our charity by keeping these attributes in mind. Even when we do not feel like it, we must walk in the Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22–23)

These attributes will cause one to have charity. Walk in the Spirit. This is Christ-like. Of course, there is an opposite to walking in the Spirit. This next quote tells us the bad way to go:

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19–21)

Looking at this from the other side, avoid these evil attributes. We all sin. All these evil attributes make a person less charitable. Know yourself. Do not allow yourself to think you are good; even Jesus said he was not good. Ask for forgiveness for your shortcomings. Be humble, and get faith, wisdom, and knowledge with all the getting. This
