A Book of Poems
()
About this ebook
A Book of Poems is in memory of my wonderful wife, Pat, whom I lost in 2011, after almost fifty-three years of married life. She was a wonderful woman, and it has been a long, lonely life without her. I miss her deeply. I met Pat in 1956 and married her in 1969. Our son was born in 1964 and our daughter in 1968. This book is about a beautiful wife, a beautiful family, and a beautiful life.

About the Author
Wife
My lady, she sleeps, so let her sleep.
It is so endearing, she sleeps so deep.
Let heaven hold her in its arms,
Let God protect her from all harm.
My love, she now sleeps.
It is everlasting and so deep.
In our love, memories have grown.
From our childhood, carved in stone.
She can never be heard no more,
Through the lid of a casket's closed door.
Oh, my love, she sleeps. Oh, let her sleep.
And may God and heaven always keep.
Take my kiss upon your brow,
As you are leave me for now .
What we have done and seen,
It's all a dream within a dream.
And my hurt is a hurt so deep,
While alone I stand and also weep.
Oh God, why could I not save,
The one I love from the grave.
The Old Man
The old man sits in his chair all day,
Nothing left to do, nothing left to say.
He lost his mate to God above,
When he lost his mate he lost his love.
The old man is lonely, the old man is blue.
Everything is gone, there is nothing left it's true.
Just a lonely old man with no reason to start.
Just an old man with a broken heart.
I don't know why God left me alone,
Just a big empty old house, it is no longer a home.
The old man has no reason for life,
The only thing the old man wants is his wife.
The days are long, the nights are cold.
There is nothing left for the old man to hold.
The story is old, this story has already been told,
But this old man is no longer bold.
The old man is lonely, alone, and blue,
Waiting to go home to his wife and start new.
A lonely old man is just another old man,
All his dreams lost like the blowing sand.
The Love of Your Life
Have you ever been in love? Yes, once or twice.
And nothing in this life or this world is so nice.
A different kind of love for different things,
Like children, mothers first love that claims.
But your real true love you can't replace,
When you find them in your life they will never be erased.
But if you lose them, you're told to move on.
Leaving you lonely, hurt, and a deep for long.
Get on with your life but that's easier said than done.
Losing your true love is just no fun.
The people you love become part of your life.
Especially if it is your husband or wife.
So no matter what you do or try,
They will be with you until the day you die.
You can get on with your life but they'll come along,
You will never get over them no matter how long.
You can't forget them or pretend they never were.
No matter what you do they will always be here.
So no matter how long is my life,
I know one thing for sure, she will always be my wife.
The woman I love, I made my wife,
And that woman is the love of my life.
Snow Moon
I looked out the window late last night,
The sight I saw was such a delight.
The moon was full, so big and bright.
On this new falling snow it was almost daylight.
I just stood and looked, it felt so good.
The quiet and beauty, you just understood.
It makes you think when things were okay,
It makes you think of things you want to say.
Of love you knew, oh how
