A la virgen de la caridad
Apareciste sobre las olas,
tormentosa mañana,
a tres pobres pescadores
en una bahía cubana.
Te erigieron un santuario
en las montañas lejanas,
para ser la madre Mambisa,
la madre cubana.
Mira a tu pueblo ahora,
sin fe ni esperanza,
lleno de tristezas, amarguras,
lleno de lágrimas.
Pero tú, desde lo alto,
rasgando tu pecho, clamas.
"¡Hijos, no pierdan la esperanza,
yo soy la madre Mambisa,
yo soy la madre cubana!
A mi esposa
Nos conocimos en una fiesta,
te invité a bailar,
bailamos toda la noche.
Comenzó la felicidad.
Te veía casi a diario,
comenzamos a enamorar
tomados siempre de la mano.
Nos empezamos a besar.
Llegó el día de la boda.
¡Qué felicidad!
Los padrinos, los amigos
no dejaban de gritar.
Al fin ya estamos juntos, ya es realidad.
Tuvimos dos hijas,
ya somos una familia,
las tenemos que cuidar.
Pero como todo en la vida llega,
te llegó la enfermedad.
Te llevé a médicos, hospitales.
Tu salud frágil está.
No te faltaron tratamientos,
ni cuidados, medicinas;
enfermeras a tu lado
todo el día están.
Llegó la hora, cerraste los ojos,
no despertaste ya más.
Sé que estás en el cielo,
que Dios a tu lado está.
Te pido algo; ¡llámame!
Contigo otra vez quiero estar.
A mi madre
Cuantas cosas bellas
de ella debiera decir,
más no encuentro palabras
que la puedan definir.
Ella es algo tan grande
que solo Dios es
