A Trilogy of Love – a Three Part Poetic Journey
By Carrie Moon

About this ebook
My book is about what emotions were felt in three distinct chapters in my life, and by sharing it with the world I hope that I can help anyone going through a tough stage or even a hopeful stage in their life. The final chapter sets us free to become that free spirit, that happy person that we can only reach by introspection, reflection and acceptance.
Carrie Moon
Carrie Moon, born Carolyn nee Yon, became a Petersen when she married Gavin Paul Petersen. They were divorced after being together for about six years, reconciled, and lived together for another almost twenty-four years. He died three and a half years later, on Carrie Moon’s birthday, the 01st of January. They have two adult sons and no grandchildren. Carrie Moon resides in Cape Town South Africa and started writing poetry seriously in 2010 when facing an open-heart surgery. She taught in Cape Town and Kwa-Zulu Natal, tutored learners up to matric level and even taught English as a foreign language. She went on early retirement to have her surgery, but was called back into teaching full time for a further six years and later four months. She is now recently retired, for the third time. Her writer’s name, Carrie Moon, has a love story behind it – when she and her husband Gavin met, because she had such large hazel- green eyes, he would affectionately refer to her as “Carrie with the full moon eyes”, “therefore it just seemed such a fitting name for my poetic persona”.

Foreward
FOR YOU GAVIN, AN UNFORGETTABLE
PART OF MY JOURNEY
DEDICATED TO MY TWO SONS, KEENAN AND KURT
The journey was long, sometimes tough, but never doubt that there were good times along the way. If by reading my poetry you are inspired positively, then I know that my journey was not in vain.
Firstly, I would like to thank God, my poetic muse, as He has given me this gift of poetry which I have used to write about the journey of my life.
There are many other people I’d like to thank as well who listened to my poetry, gave suggestions on the format, edited my manuscript (Anthony Doman), or just gave me their support while I struggled through some rough times. Thank you to my family: Keenan, Kurt, Avril, Estelle, Russell, Kevin, Alan, Hayley, Marina, Lauren, Deanna and Leonard, without you I might not have made it through the tough times. To my friends Marcy Kotze, Shanaaz Hendricks, the box club ladies, Merle Brown, Immaculata ‘76 matriculants, St Agnes and John Graham school families, Fiona, Avril’s gym ladies and my prayer groups at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, you know who you are, and how you have helped and supported me on my journey.
If I have missed out on thanking anyone dear to my heart, I apologise, as you are all special to me.
And finally, I hope that you enjoy my poetry as you read the first part of my story called REJECTION: AS I WALKED THIS PATH, a story which continues in the second part, REFLECTIONS: A JOURNEY OF HOPE FROM MY HEART, and concludes in the third part of the book, RELEASED: AS I TRAVEL LIGHT.

Words tumble from my mind, emotive and sad,
Remembering the many bad times we’ve had,
On the flipside there’s memories so precious to behold,
Igniting a fiery warmth, never once reflecting the cold.
The warmth of good moments spreads right through my veins,
As I embrace the precious days when our love reigns.
Laughter erupts from our innermost souls,
Engulfing our children, spurring them on to their goals,
These are the moments when we are so adorable
Never once using words that are utterly deplorable.
Love shining straight from our hearts and our eyes,
Defences defeated, an absolute truth, no lies.
Happiness blooming all around us once more,
To love one another, not such a huge chore,
The freedom to touch, the freedom to hold,
Our emotions in sync, more precious than gold.
To love deeply with no barriers to bar,
Are precious moments to bear, yet so far?
So …, break the wall down, holding us captive in life,
Kiss me and touch me, be tender, I’m your wife,
I’ll embrace you and hug you and hold you so sure,
Love, an emotion, not painful to endure.
Aggression will be gone as love rules the day,
Accepting peacefully as God shows us the way.
By Carrie Moon
Volcanic eruptions, emotional purging frothing up, bubbling over,
Losing my mind, wish I could be rescued by a four-leaf clover.
Need some luck desperately to help me through,
Don’t know how much more of this treatment I can endure.
There are questions Lord daily, many times I would ask,
Why me? What have I done? Why such an incorrigible task?
No answers I get, no answers to give,
Only deep sorrow and pain to
