    Introduction

I perceive loneliness to be an enemy of the human race. Feeling lonely can sometimes lead to feelings of depression, sadness, and hopelessness. I am not a psychiatrist, psychologist, or professional counselor. I have struggled with loneliness most of my life. I no longer struggle with it and would like to share how I was able to defeat this great enemy. This is a book of hope and insight for those who struggle with feelings of loneliness. Feeling alone is painful and requires a solution that takes that pain away. Who we get our advice from is crucial because we will follow in the footsteps of the adviser. If this person feels alone, we will not find what we need to be free from loneliness.

I would like to introduce you to Someone Who has the solution to loneliness. There is Someone Who is greater than loneliness. He is greater than your problem. He is greater than situations. He is greater than sickness and disease. He is greater than enemies. I have engaged in a relationship with the best friend any human being could ever have. His name is Jesus Christ. I had heard the name mentioned many times but did not know how He could help me until I read, understood, and believed that the Bible is Jesus Christ in written form (Hebrews 10:7). In the Bible, He was called the Son of God, or God in the shape of His creation. He was also called Son of Man, or God in the shape of a man. Jesus Christ is the Word of God, which became flesh and dwelt among men (John 1:1, 14). Jesus Christ is God in human form; to believe in Jesus, we must shift our thinking from the natural to the spiritual. This means that we must learn about spiritual things, the unseen world. The kind of knowledge that will take us beyond the shallow things of life into the realities of the spirit world. So the focus of this book will be on the life and words of the only human being who predicted His own death and coming back to life, Jesus Christ.

We must get to know this amazing Man and learn how to spend time with Him. This will require faith or believing in something you can’t see and acting on it. This is done by spending time reading, studying, and meditating on the Bible; followed by believing and acting on what the Word says. The source for this book is the Bible, Jesus Christ Himself. It is my intention to introduce you to Jesus and get you started on a journey that will free you from loneliness. Spending time in the Word is the same as spending time with Jesus.

    Chapter 1

    How to Overcome Fear

There are many issues to deal with in order to escape loneliness. Among them is fear. A major fear of being alone, what other people may think, or any unhealthy fear that takes away your peace. I am fifty years old and have spent most of my life feeling alone. However, at age thirty-two, my loneliness began to end. It has taken a long time to overcome some really difficult struggles to change my thinking and break free. I was not always physically alone, but my mindset made me feel alone. Fear was planted into my heart at a very young age. Born without a father at home, violence was among my early memories of being alone. After my divorce and second failed serious relationship, I felt so alone that I became depressed. So much so that I began to hear a voice clearly tell me, You’re alone again, you might as well kill yourself. Do it fast—walk in front of a truck. As a result, I attempted suicide. I am only alive today because Jesus Christ saved me. He showed me that the thoughts and voices I was following were not Him. It was something else. Fear must be overcome because if it is not, it will affect every area of life
