Introduction

This book is to introduce you to Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, our Heavenly Father and Creator. Both love you. If you do not know Jesus, you will soon. If you do know who Jesus is you will learn what He expects from you and what He offers to you. Although He was crucified and died almost two thousand years ago, Jesus is alive and well now. He wants you to be His disciple; His follower.

When it comes to Jesus, that old saying applies: ‘You are either with Him or you are against Him.’ Luke-warm, half-hearted responses will not be acceptable. In Jesus’ own words:

"I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth" (Revelation 3:15-16).

While you are on this earth Jesus offers you peace, joy, contentment, an abundant life and love; in the next life He offers you a place in Heaven, with Him; but you must believe in Him and have faith--total, uncompromising faith. Many will not make the cut! How can I know this? Jesus’ own words:

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:13-14).

Just to be sure we are communicating the destruction Jesus speaks of is Hell; the life is Heaven.

This book you have just begun is the Truth! I will share testimonial evidence of this Truth, even eye witness accounts. Historical evidence suggests most people will not accept what I am going to tell you, but as I am writing, I am praying that every reader will be able to handle and accept this Truth, which has already been acknowledged by millions of people over the last two thousand years.

The Truth I am referring to is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth for the express purpose of dying an excruciating death on the cross. Jesus suffered and died to pay the penalty for our sins: your sins and mine, providing the only pathway to Heaven; enabling us to spend eternity with God when we leave this Earth.

The people that I am writing to is pretty much everyone. If you have never heard of God or Jesus, please read this book; your eternal destination depends on learning this information. If you know of God or Jesus, but do not believe, please read this book; you are playing Russian roulette – with all cylinders loaded. You just might learn you have been mistaken! If you call yourself a Christian and are feeling pretty smug because you already know everything about Jesus, please read this book. I thought of myself as a Christian for the first fifty years of my life - before learning the Truth.

We are going to talk about God and the Bible, but this book will only scratch the surface. My purpose is to convince you of your need for the Salvation offered only by Jesus Christ! When you finish The Truth About God and want more information, you will have no trouble finding it; there has been more words, more books written about God and Jesus than any other subject on earth.

Regarding the Bible, almost everything we know about God comes from the Bible. I will be using multiple Scripture verses to show you the Truth; You do not need my words when the Creator’s are available. The Scripture verses will be listed in the narratives or stand-alone and centered, in bold, Italic text. Biblical annotation is listed as the name of the book, the chapter number and the verses; for example: If I give you a Scripture verse from the Book of John, the third Chapter, the sixteen verse it will appear like this: John 3:16; multiple verses will look like this: John 3:10-16, indicating the same book and chapter as above, but including verses ten through sixteen. The Words of Jesus will be in red. This same convention is always used. If you are unfamiliar with this annotation, you will get used to it quickly.

The major tools for convicting you of your need for Jesus will be our discussion of God’s Law and the prophecies concerning Jesus found in the Bible. These Prophecies, some made as much as 700 years before Jesus’ birth, are very convincing that Jesus is who He claims to be!

We are going to talk about a few terms which have very specific meanings when talking about God, Jesus and Salvation. For instance: ‘Sin’ –. Sin is disobeying God; We are all Sinners. ‘Righteousness’ –. Righteousness is acting ‘Right’ in God’s eyes. The primary requirement for ‘Righteousness’ is having Love in your heart, love from a pure heart. Other terms include Repentance, Faith, Grace, Indwelt (by the Holy Spirit), Born-Again, plus others.

The title of this book promises you Joy and Peace. Lasting Joy and Peace will be yours when you know that you can count on Jesus to always be with you; this is a by-product of placing your Trust in Him.
