    Between

    Between birth and death,

    The life-span full of pain.

Joys and sorrows and laughter, loud Death and birth and love.

Between the cradle and heaven's kiss Our lives like rivers flow.

    Quality, quantity, this and that

    Years and moments running long.

Between conception and the burning pyre Our hearts beat loud but weak Our lives meander from birth to death And it is salvation that we seek.

    Sean Boyd – 1996

    Foreword

Whether you are a sinner, seeker or a veteran saint, I'm glad you're reading this. Why? It could change your life! As one who preaches and practices (more practice than preaching I hope) life style evangelism, I am always on the lookout for tools to help communicate the gospel more effectively. I believe this is one.

Mary Stormont writes with an obvious burden: that others, especially family and friends, would come to know...to know for sure...Jesus as Savior and Lord. Using her own spiritual journey as backdrop, she challenges sacred cows and church tradition. You may not agree with everything she says. You might not like what she says...but I guarantee she will make you think...study...and prayerfully consider your standing with God.

I encourage you. No, I challenge you to lay aside denomina- tionalism, traditionalism and prejudices. Prayerfully consider the questions she asks and the solution she offers (chapter 11). Check them out. Answer them. Be a Berean (Acts 16:11), examine these things to see if they are so. I believe you will see they are and I believe you will be glad you did. This little booklet can be used by God to change your life. Whether or not it does will be up to you! I pray it does! Good reading!

    About the author

    1. Are You Sure?

I read somewhere that life is just a bowl of cherries - so what am I doing in the pits? Interesting choice of words, but at that time in my life, they were so very appropriate! I was getting a divorce. Me. The perfect one. The good Christian. The nice little girl. I, of all people, was getting that thing. You know, the big D word. Divorce. I couldn't see any way to stop it, and in truth, I really didn't want to. I was terribly unhappy, and I couldn't see any way the situation might possibly improve in the near-or far-future, so I left my husband. And then I was REALLY in the pits! After all, Christians don't get divorces. I had certainly heard THAT one often enough!

The legalists came out of the woodwork at me. Bible verses were quoted self-righteously that only confirmed my guilt. (Matthew 19:5-9, Mark 10:8-12, I Corinthians 7:10-17, to name a few.) The conclusion
