A PRELUDE
Jesus Christ – how does one begin to describe Him with words? He is love, eternal and is the one we must come to for salvation. Despite all the running from Him that we can do, there will come a day when we will have to stop running and face Him. We will either face Him as Savior, or as Judge.
Since the time that Jesus walked the earth over 2,000 years ago, many have wondered who this Jesus really is. In Matthew 16:13-17 we read: When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, Who do people say the Son of Man is?
They replied, Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.
But what about you?
he asked. Who do you say I am?
Simon Peter answered, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Jesus replied, Blessed are you Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
What a great gift that Peter had from the Father! He received revelation knowledge from God concerning Jesus, and Peter believed. The Holy Spirit is at work with people who do not know Jesus personally. He is preparing their hearts to receive the Messiah, who is Jesus. Sadly, many people, for whatever the reason, dismiss the Holy Spirit’s wooing and do not receive Christ as their Savior, Lord and friend. This is the worst tragedy possible.
This book is going to demonstrate to you, from Scripture, that Jesus is who He claimed to be. Jesus was not merely a good person or a kind man. He is the Creator of the world, and He created you and me to have a deeply fulfilling relationship with Him. He is not far off and distant; rather, He lives on the inside of everyone who puts their faith and trust in Him for salvation. One could study Jesus an entire life-time and still not fully grasp the awesomeness of God. And that is who Jesus is – He is God in the flesh.
One of the issues that we need to examine is the character of
