About this ebook

Finally Liberated: Through the Reality of Gods Love is a book for all Christians. For new believers, it provides foundation-building materials for establishing a close walk with the Lord. For more mature Christians who may have grown dull of hearing, it provides an opportunity to hear again what drew them to the Lord in the first place. Finally Liberated shows believers how loving and merciful their Heavenly Father is and how very much he wants them to succeed in this life.

It is a book not only about being blessed but also about being a blessing to others. Through the scriptures, Finally Liberated illustrates how to please the Lord and how to receive the many promises he puts forth in his Word. The many biblical truths discussed will help believers become free by changing the circumstances of their lives through the love and power of God.

It is Stockerts prayer that people coming to the altar from all around the world will walk away with a copy of Finally Liberated in their hands and the words of this book will become firmly planted within their hearts.

Eleanor Stockert

Eleanor Stockert is a devoted wife, the mother of three married daughters, and the grandmother of five children. She has been a Christian since 1975, and over the last twenty years, she has had many opportunities to witness the reality of God’s love in her life. From the birth of a grandchild who was not expected to live to a life-threatening disease on her own body, Stockert has experienced God’s faithfulness to His word first-hand. She and her husband, Ernie, are very active in their church, and they visit hospitals, encouraging people by sharing God’s love with them and exhorting them to stand strong in their faith. Her ministry is to help establish new believers in their faith and to reach out to hurting people in the church and the community.

    Introduction

I’ve been a Christian for over twenty years now, and my walk with the Lord grows deeper and richer every year. But the first eight years of my walk were very different from what I am experiencing today. Looking back, I realize that as I was searching so hard for the truth, there was a major obstacle standing in my way. It was called religious tradition, and it was being taught to me by people who really loved God and really loved me. Religious tradition acknowledges the deity of God, but denies His power. It says, Jesus healed when He walked the earth, but not today. When a person is taught religious tradition, it becomes difficult to accept the truth of God’s Word with childlike faith. Jesus Himself warned about this in Mark 7:13. He said that man can make the Word of God of no effect in his life through his traditions. Religious tradition came very close to stealing the truth of God’s Word from my life.

When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord in 1975, He saved me out of a life so filled with despair, I was contemplating suicide. In 1958, at the age of nineteen, I had just given birth to our first daughter when suddenly, within a six-week period, four members of my family died. The death that had the greatest impact on me was that of my mother, who at age thirty-nine, took her own life. We had always been very close, and her suicide devastated me and plunged me into a very deep depression. Emotional problems plagued my life for the next sixteen years-until that night when I asked Jesus to come into my life and He made everything new for me.

I had such a hunger to know Him that I would read the Bible day and night. I would get so excited over the goodness of God and the promises I found for my life. But when I went to church I would hear things that were contrary to what I had read. The pastor would say that if we disobeyed God He would send tests and trials to teach us a lesson so we would obey Him. One Sunday morning a man who had lost his arm in an accident stood up and gave a testimony of how God took his arm so that he would follow Him more closely. When I heard things like this, something inside me would say, No, this is wrong. But then my head would say, Look at these people––one is a pastor, the other a seasoned Christian––surely they know more than me, a new convert. Yet the God I read about in the Bible did not do terrible things to people to get their attention. The Word says in Romans 2:4 that the goodness of God leads people to repentance.

What was being taught in this church (and
