    About the Principles

    Five guiding principles

These guiding principles were adapted into my life through the leadership and guidance of a dear friend and leader in my life, Pastor Starr Williams, who was the shepherd of City of Light Worship Center at the time God gave her the five guiding principles:

    Be strong

    Be consistent

    Be not fearful

    Be honest and true

    Ask the Father

Testimonials by Shawna Wuenstel and Brandize Riggins

During the time, I was participating in the coaching and biblical teaching regarding the five guiding principles. I had found myself in great need of spiritual and natural healing. I had a lot of unanswered questions about who I was and what I was supposed to be doing (at that time) about God’s purpose in my life. In many cases as I recall, I had the lurking questions of how God was going to heal my broken and tattered heart. It would be through this portion of my journey with God, working with Pastor Starr and other participants, that we would all watch God in His own divine way walk us through each principle.

Come with me, if you will, as I share how these principles helped guide me through to a place of clarity, self-discovery, and healing (just to name a few). My first task, and often the most challenging, was learning to be strong, especially since I felt so weak and defeated at this time in my walk with Christ and in my life in general. I had experienced so many ups and downs (as we do), developing and growing in my faith. One of the obstacles for me was facing my shortcomings, admitting that my life was unmanageable and contemplating between rebellion and obedience. Yet God would show me His power when I learned to be strong and faithful in Him. It would take some time, but slowly God’s redeeming power and strength was rebuilding me and my image in Him.

Oftentimes I teach the importance of knowing that being strong is always the same thing as having strength. You see, I needed to be strong to stop quitting every time it got hard or difficult. I would need to be strong for the times where I felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest without any control on my part because of the actions and consequences of the choices I made. One thing I’ve learned is that God was very gentle with me despite how I was feeling. It felt like I was never going to gain a footing with this step, but little by little, He began to show me how my reliance on Him was strengthening me for my day-to-day tasks. Before you know it, I was developing, practicing my disciplines,
