    Introduction

    ––––––––

I recall when I was a youngster, I constantly doubted myself. I would get so nervous before doing anything, whether it was presenting in class or playing sports, that I would psych myself out and do poorly. As I got older, I recognized that this lack of self-confidence was preventing me from reaching my full potential. I made the decision to face it head-on and began reading everything I could on the subject. I also started working with a therapist to help me overcome my self-doubt.

Whatever the case may be, a lack of self-confidence can severely negatively impact every aspect of a child's life – from their schooling and relationships to their health and future success.

So, as a parent, what can you do to assist your kid in gaining self-confidence?

    Here are five suggestions:

    1. Be a role model. Show your youngster how to be a self-assured individual through your actions and attitude.

    2. Encourage effort and praise progress. If your child is trying something new or challenging, let them know that you are proud of their
