    Pain in Adulthood

    Life is tough, I tell myself as I stand in front of the mirror and watch acne, that dreaded dregs of a disease, ravage my face. I wish I could get the pimples out with one flick of the wrist.

    Then I tell myself that acne is a temporary ravage that makes a teenager's life a little less pleasant. But it is a sure sign that a child is blossoming into an adult.

    Life is hard/ I turn away from the mirror when it hits me like lightning. My voice has become hoarse, almost hoarse. It scratches if I may add. Where has my sweet, soft voice gone? Did I catch a cold? Such harshness goes hand in hand with a cold. But the cold and I have nothing to do with each other, at least for the moment. Is there an unusual cold?" a light banter lifts my spirits.

    A cold is common to all people. But every time I catch a cold, it becomes unusual for Appa and Amma.

    They think I came with a dangerous cold that could kill! They force me to bed, send the doctor to pump all sorts of drugs into my system.
