I dedicate this book to my loving and inspirational father, who left this earth too early. He was a humble man who taught me to believe in myself fiercely. I admired his inner strength and valour as he told me stories of his youth, a young boy who faced execution by the Nazis.

INTRODUCTION

My journey as a truth seeker began at an early age; as a young girl, I understood that there is a more profound sense of self, and I always sensed something deeper in each of us. I believe my journey of self-discovery and my thirst for understanding our true nature was ignited whilst listening to my father, Arthur, recalling his childhood story as a seventeen-year-old boy during World War Two.

On the afternoon of the 8th of December 1943, German soldiers entered the village Pogoi, Kalavryta, in Greece. They gathered all the males, including young boys, in the town square and locked them up in the Greek church Agia Barbara. Soon after, they were ordered to come out and line up six at a time. My father was among those males; at the tender age of seventeen, he was confronted by an unthinkable evil and his own mortality. As they marched toward their own execution, my father whispered to his uncle, who walked beside him. I’m going to make a run for it and jump off the cliff. Discouragingly his uncle responded that he wouldn’t make it; they would shoot him. Sixty-five men were executed that day in Pogoi; my father was not one of them.

He trusted his instincts; he jumped and ran up the hills. Gunshots were fired, but they did not hit him. He was saved.

I have heard this story many times, and I have always been in awe of my father’s bravery. To this day, I get a surge of goosebumps when I think about it. I would ask myself, what made a young boy have the courage to do what my father did?

My father passed away when I was fifteen years old, and although I have been brought to my knees many times in my darkest moments and my own journey of healing and recovery, I have come to understand two fundamental things. Firstly, had my father not been saved, my brother and I would never have been born. I see now there is a higher purpose for my being here. Though it took me many years to comprehend, I know that God requires me to fulfil His purpose for me.

The second is that I clearly understand what made my father defy evil and attempt to save himself as a young boy. It was the triumph of the human spirit; he listened to the spirit within him and realised his greatness. It’s the same thing that helped me heal and thrive. It’s called listening to your true self, spiritual self, and the divine spirit that resides inside each of us. When I healed, awakened and transformed my life experiences and embodied the truth of who I am, I understood what sovereignty means and how it was given to us at birth by God.
