I thank my parents. As difficult as I once found life to be, I have come to realize that it had to be this way for me to understand what I am grateful to now comprehend.

Intro
I had no words — I did not know how to speak. Darkness had captured me. It was as if I lived in a room and was never able to leave. Through a window, I could only watch the world go by, wishing to be part of it all. I was trapped. I didn’t know how to open the door, even though it was never locked. I guess I was too afraid to open it. I was afraid of everything. My confidence failed me, time and time again. I could not open the door, until I became desperate, and my life depended on me opening it…
Words
Words are the soul exposing intricate design,
Orchestrated with precision to reveal the divine.
A connection that extends from you then to me,
Words’ powerful force may be difficult to see.
Words express truth, as we know deep inside,
It’s the place we alone know how to share and confide.
Words are important, as they are what makes us be,
Words come alive being who we are truthfully.

At this time in my life I was grasping at straws and barely had a leg to stand on. I needed to understand what was good because I only understood what was bad — I was bad. I was oppressed by negative thoughts that controlled my mind by enslaving me, and keeping me paralyzed from ever truly knowing who I was. I found myself to be bound in a state of hopeless confusion and insecurity. I
