PREFACE
A typical bystander might view my life as average, but if one looked deeper, one may discover it isn’t so. I have experienced physical and emotional trauma, alienation, a power I cannot explain, and a life-threatening ordeal. I have learned that my history actually assists me when helping others with their own issues.
Some refer to me as a teacher, others call me a shaman, Reiki Master, psychic, seer, empath, energy worker, or healer. But from my perspective, I’m just Katy. For those of you who are not familiar with the terms, Shaman, seer or empath, please let me give my very simple definitions.
Shaman: A shaman is a man or woman who has been chosen or sought to be trained as a healer, one who may travel into different realms and dimensions to learn or help another, is a teacher, someone who uses spiritual energy to help others. It is my personal opinion that Reiki Masters act as shamans.
Seer: One who can see (often with eyes open) into other dimensions, and/or the spirit world, or in meditative spiritual visions. A seer may see deceased ancestors, spirits of the recently deceased, angels, guides and guardians.
Clairaudient: the ability to hear spirit; some hear with their physical ears; others hear in their mind while either working with a client or in meditation. This gift often accompanies Seership.
Empath: According to Dr. Michael R. Smith of The Empath Connection: If you’re one of us, you have highly sensitive spiritual, emotional, and energetic perception. You literally feel other people’s energy and emotions in your own body and energy field.

Shamanic Journey: A guided meditation leading to personal discoveries in other dimensions or realms for a specific purpose of discovery.
All of the personal examples and experiences within this book are true and have taught me very important lessons, including the following.
• Truth is everywhere.
• I’m a seeker who enjoys searching for answers to perplexing questions or problems, and have helped others walk through theirs.
• Death is not an ending, but a continuation.
• Paranormal experiences are real.
• There is Divine intervention.
• Spiritual gifts often run in families.
• Reincarnation is possible.
• Some angels’ wings match their hair.
I include the preceding list because the personal stories I share in this book address these topics. All my stories show how powerful experiences, spiritual or otherwise, taught me not only to change my perspective on life, but much more. Within the situations recorded in the pages of this book, I share and explore with you some of my understandings gleaned from my challenges. All of them have led me to discovering how to change my perspective around the purpose of many events in my life.
Together we will delve into a powerful dream world to discover personal strengths, and receive gifts which may remind us of all we are. Later perhaps we will learn to understand how our most horrible experiences may become our greatest, most powerful lessons. Perhaps you too will come to recognize how it is through our most curious, perplexing, and painful trials, that we may gain deep wisdom of the purpose behind our tutoring, and learn to see via a different perspective.
PROLOGUE
The Education of Me
The first chaotic law is that the truth is different for everyone.
A Course in Miracles (pg. 489)
A lthough it takes me a bit out of my comfort-zone I’m willing to write about my unusual, often challenging life, experiences. Perhaps some of my personal insights will shine light on someone else’s personal journey into their own dark nights of the soul.
Honestly, though, right now I’m thinking of what chores need to be done: my kitchen needs to be cleaned, there’s laundry to do. Maybe my husband is hungry for lunch, perhaps we could go out.
As much as I would like to escape the reality of some of my experiences, I am determined to revisit both horrible and fascinating events in my life, then speak to the possible why’s
. While some memories make my heart smile, others make my stomach tighten.
A lot of us carry emotional scars from having endured harassment or derision from peers, abuse, or even sexual assault.
The man who raped me not only hurt my body, his name calling affected my soul, he called me a whore. His bragging destroyed my young reputation. I was eleven-years-old, and felt I had to hide what I was going though because I was ashamed.
Childhood dramas are often remembered with a cringe of mortification due to the false belief that it was our fault. That belief is often perpetuated by adults who can’t handle their own self-judgment around not being aware of such incidents.
I heard, from at least one adult, ‘I know you, and you had to have done something that led to x, y, or z…,’ or ‘What did you do to bring this on?’ Which only added to my shame.
No matter how much my heart longed to fit in, it never happened.
As an adult my perspective drastically changed with the realization that the actions and behaviors of others toward me, have never been about me.
For years I had a difficult time trusting God.
My question was always, Where was he when I needed him?
However, in my later life experiences, I have learned those events which were extremely unpleasant, not only have purpose, but great value, and that angels were always there holding me.
The point in telling my personal stories throughout this book is to let others know they are not always in control of what happens, nor are events always what they seem. Most of us have incurred unusual or painful experiences, at some time or another, but few realize that hidden within those occurrences, are deep life changing wisdoms.
Our struggles reveal our strength, courage, and inner warrior, as well as our compassion. They help us gain a deeper understanding into ourselves; we also learn empathy for others.
We have to learn that forgiveness, which actually frees us,
