Joan Stone

I am a recovering alcoholic of fifteen years now. My parents raised six girls and one boy in a farm in Alberta. I was blessed with a son and a daughter, who are adults now. I love my family and children with all my heart. I have made bad decisions, choices, mistakes, throughout the years, which hurt several people, most of them are my loved ones. I now refer to those as life lessons. And being aware of the hurt I have caused my loved ones has helped me become a more compassionate, caring, and helpful person to people in my life, and people I meet along the way, on this great journey called life.

Truth be told, I was going insane.

Then one day, I opened my eyes.

Got out of bed, to a wonderful surprise.

I could change, the person I see.

To someone who cares, to someone who is free.

Looking through the years, where had I lost control.

It's clear to me now, they had taken my soul.

I can be, who I want to be.

For God's in my life, looking after me.

I need to stand tall, stand back, breathe and see.

That I am exactly, where I am meant to
