THE LOCATION

A small town always has a certain appeal. If there are farms in the area, that seems to be a draw card. But if you have the ocean nearby, that is when you strike it lucky. The town named Langsville has all of that. The forest is a huge attraction for reasons you might not believe. Take a step back from the daily hustle and bustle and step in to a world where psychics, shifters and magical beings whisk you away. Welcome to Langsville!

Chapter 1

Chief Ericson walked in to the office and handed Detective Pauls an envelope and looked him in the eye and shook his head. Approved. He walked out and Pauls held the bumpy envelope in his hand. He knew what it was because his letter of resignation had been sealed in the same envelope. Vince carefully opened it and looked at his letter of resignation that had been ripped in to shreds and each piece placed in the envelope. He felt overcome with joy as he realized his resignation was null and void.

After being diagnosed with prostate cancer, he had sold every item he owned. He still had his house, but the furniture that was left was spread rather thinly. The doctor had advised that he wouldn’t last another six weeks. The cancer was well developed and no cure, medication, or operation would help.

With the bad news, he had broken off his relationship with the love of his life. It broke his heart when he broke up with Kim, but she was insistent that it didn’t matter. That she would be there until his last breath of air. But he had insisted that he didn’t want to see her after parting ways.

His smile broadened, and he picked up the phone and dialled. He had to try to buy everything back from his friends. As he spoke to them, he realized they didn’t want or need his furniture, but had taken it off of his hands, thinking he might be desperate. After a few calls, each of his friends had agreed to return the furniture. Pauls didn’t need to lift a finger. He knew he would have to explain the situation to them.

But how does one explain a thing like prostate cancer in one breath and having been healed in another? It was something he would have to explain properly.

It was back to normal for Pauls and his partner Deidre. On the go and busy the entire day. He picked up his jacket and made his way home. His friends started arriving with his furniture. But they didn’t accept a cent in return even though he tried to insist. Pauls tried to explain, but he wasn’t even given the opportunity.
