THE LOCATION
A small town always has a certain appeal. If there are farms in the area, that seems to be a draw card. But if you have the ocean nearby, that is when you strike it lucky. The town named Langsville has all of that. The forest is a huge attraction for reasons you might not believe. Take a step back from the daily hustle and bustle and step in to a world where psychics, shifters and magical beings whisk you away. Welcome to Langsville!
Chapter 1
Erica and Dennis walked in to the police station and waited to report their son missing. They waited patiently until the officer at the counter called them. She opened a file and took their details. Knowing there was nothing much to go by with the information they provided, she still took every bit of information she could. Their son was missing but he was a mature adult. They left the police station feeling comforted that someone would look for Gary.
As Agent Ryan Digby walked up the stairs he overheard them talking. He could hear the panic and concern in their voices. Ryan walked in to the police station. He saw a file lying on the counter. That couple.
We can’t do anything. They reported their son as missing. He didn’t come home from work on Monday night. She sounds like a paranoid parent. I wouldn’t worry. I am sure he will be home soon. People come in here and expect us to drop everything for them.
Ryan grabbed the file and looked at her. And if he is in trouble? What then?
The guy is twenty-four. Isn’t he allowed his freedom? He is an adult.
Freedom, yes, but maybe he is in trouble and needs help. You can hear the woman is distraught.
Paranoid parents the pair of them.
Are you new here? I haven’t seen you before.
Today is my first day. I have just been transferred to this dump. I don’t know who you are but I don’t take kindly to officers who think they are in charge. I am in charge of this desk. This area is my domain. Put that file down immediately. What is your name?
Ryan ignored her and walked in to the office and sat down and started reading the details in the file. As he read he could sense that they were a close-knit family. If their son was excited the last time they saw him, he had a reason. But why would he not go home after work? It didn’t make any sense.
He took the photograph and made a copy and trimmed it down to size and put it straight in to his wallet. There was something about the case that spurred him on and he was not going to wait. He was working on a few cases but he had the time to focus on a manhunt. If someone was missing every second was crucial. He took the file and walked out of the office.
He couldn’t concentrate with the constant chatting in the office. Ryan walked past the desk with the file under his arm. Excuse me!
He walked back to the desk and looked at the woman. If you don’t know who I am why don’t you ask? You have the wrong attitude.
I am going to report you to the chief.
You do that darling.
Chapter 2
Ryan ran down the stairs and climbed in to the van and made his way home. He took the marble from his pocket and placed it on the pedestal on his desk. He opened the file and
