THE LOCATION
A small town always has a certain appeal. If there are farms in the area, that seems to be a draw card. But if you have the ocean nearby, that is when you strike it lucky. The town named Langsville has all of that. The forest is a huge attraction for reasons you might not believe. Take a step back from the daily hustle and bustle and step in to a world where psychics, shifters and magical beings whisk you away. Welcome to Langsville!
Chapter 1
Fern walked in to Ryan’s home and commented on the lovely layout. Even though she had never physically been in to his home, she had been there many times. Seeing images in her head and what he had told her when they were undercover on an assignment. She walked in to the kitchen and Ryan handed her the block of cheese.
Oh, I know what I need. A rich creamy cheese sauce. I miss the old days. When we lived in that old house. And it was so small in comparison. I imagined what your home would be like.
And were you right?
I was. Ryan, when I left, I was so annoyed. Not with you but at you. You didn’t believe in yourself. Are you convinced that you are psychic? Maxine proves the point.
When you handed the marble to me I thought it was something magical so I treated it that way. I use her for many things. Sadly, when I am on my own I even use her as my sniffer dog. When I tell her what I am looking for she takes me in the right direction and I follow. She always finds whatever we are tracking.
Because you started believing in yourself. The rash is something different. You know it isn’t a rash but your sensitive spot. You will notice with people they always rub their neck. Not the same thing but that is their spot. When things heat up your wrist itches. Almost as if your body is giving you a clue.
You don’t have a marble or anything similar.
No, I see images in my head. But I need to be aware and keep the images and my imagination in two different compartments. The two can’t be confused. I saw flashes of your home and had to stop my imagination. You do realize I am here for good.
Ryan pulled her in to his arms and hugged her. I am glad you are here Fern. So many months and I missed you terribly.
When I reported in to the office they had already set up another assignment. That meant I had to leave and couldn’t even contact you.
I thought it was what I had said that had driven you away for good.
When we got married it was the real deal. So here I am. Not going back and I hope like hell they accept my request for a transfer.
Chief Ericson is going to snap you up in seconds.
Hope so. I have taken my annual leave. We don’t have much time before he arrives. And we need everything. I didn’t want to do any shopping before I arrived.
Well, then we need to get everything tomorrow. Better to be prepared. He will arrive on your due date. Gut feel.
Love that gut feeling. Yes, he won’t be early or late.
They stood and made supper and had their meal and Ryan carried her luggage in to the house and put it in to the bedroom. He walked out and parked their vehicles in the garages and carried her large bag and walked in to the bedroom. He put it at the bottom of the cupboard. He didn’t need to ask what was in the bag.
Ryan lay on the bed as she unpacked her clothes and packed them in to the cupboards. Some of the clothes he saw he remembered but most were comfortable outfits to accommodate her tummy. Her shoes ranged from sandals, boots, to high heels. But the dungarees she wore appealed to him and they didn’t restrict her movement.
They eventually climbed in to bed. Fern smiled as she looked at the marble that lay next to the bed. As he always had, Ryan held her close as they slept.
After breakfast, Ryan made his way to the office. He wondered when Chief Ericson would receive the request Fern had submitted for a transfer. Ryan wanted to be with Fern and not in the office. He took a file and started walking out of
