About this ebook

A disappearing baby leads Larry, Ted, Penny, Faith, and Cherry on a dangerous but exciting journey to an old house in Arrowhead County. Why does the baby disappear and then reappear? Is Mrs. Rockler really a fugitive on the run from the law? Will they find Larry before he's blown up? Looking out the living room window, what does Larry see? Why did Larry disappear? How did Ted and Cherry get into their wooden cage that has no doors or windows? Who is that calling the Rivers' residence, pleading for help, and is cut off with a loud and deadly scream? Follow Larry and his friends as they take on these questions to find the answers at the risk of their very lives as they depend on the Lord for help to keep them safe.

    About the Author

To my beloved wife, Ann. Her encouragement and suggestions helped me complete this writing.

I want the world to know that I'm truly blessed to have such a wife who is this fantastic and whom we love and cherish very much.

To my daughter and son, whom I love and whom I named my two leading characters after, Penny and Larry. My true and deepest love to my family.

The Mystery of the Disappearing Baby

    Author's Note

The names of places and characters are fictional. Should they match the names of people and places elsewhere, it is coincidental.

Sheriff Ralph Rivers and his wife, Denise, are the parents of Larry and Penny, two members of the Arrowhead Detective Team.

Isaac and Elizabeth (Beth) Lightner are the parents of Ted, Faith, and Cherry, three members of the Arrowhead Detective Team. Isaac is a successful real estate agent.

Larry and Ted are now twenty-one and just a few months out of military service with honorable discharges. They entered the service at age eighteen and did three years in the Pacific Northwest.

Their military service was with the military police.

Penny's, Faith's, and Cherry's ages range from eighteen to twenty.

The Arrowhead Mystery Detectives and Arrowhead County is a work of fiction and the stories pertaining to it that I have written are fictitious as well. These are meant for reading enjoyment only.

I would also like to give my deep-hearted thank you to all law enforcement agencies: county, state, and federal officials. My family and I give all of you our deep-hearted thank you and respect for your protection in our society (1 Timothy 2:2–3).

    Thank you.

    Jack

    The Arrowhead Detectives

They came from rural America, dedicated to their God, dedicated to their country, dedicated to the preservation of freedom and the pursuit of happiness.

Nothing is too great a task for them that they would risk and, if need be, give their very lives to save life and limb of those that seek their help. When they take a case, they take it to solve it and keep at it until they are finished, and to know that they have done it to the best of their ability.

Larry Rivers is their captain. At times, he has to make decisions that affect them all one way or another. His build is tall and muscular with deep brown hair and a deep complexion.

Ted Lightner is the team's electronic and photography expert. His knowledge of this special work is invaluable because it is of immense importance to the others as they work to help others that are in need of their help. Ted's build is tall and muscular with black hair and a deep complexion.

Penny Rivers is the cocaptain. As do the others, she studies the challenges from all sides and uses caution to stop those that wish to do harm. She has long blonde hair and a light, pretty complexion with a very pretty smile.

Faith Lightner does research for the team that helps in all their cases that they accept so that they can obtain the truth and uphold justice. She has short brown hair with a fair complexion and a pretty smile.

Cherry Lightner keeps records of all their cases should they need them for future reference to a previous case. Like her colleagues, she stands ready to defend her country and community from those that seek to do injustice and inflict harm. She has short, dark brunette hair with a light complexion and a pretty smile.
