Standing in the supermarket checkout queue, I recognised a friendly face.
‘Hiya, Andrea,’ Kevin, then 38, smiled as he unloaded his trolley.
‘Kevin, it’s been years,’ I smiled.
We’d been in the same year at school, but had lost touch.
As we waited to pay for our shopping, we chatted away about our lives.
And from that moment, in January 2017, I seemed to bump into Kevin every time I went into town.
He soon asked me out on a date. But I declined.
See, my dad Stephen had terminal mouth and throat cancer.
