How to Control High Blood Pressure Without Medications - Dimick Wisener

    Introduction

What is hypertension , or high blood pressure?

The force that blood exerts against the walls of blood vessels is measured as blood pressure.

The pressure exerted against the blood vessel walls in your body is abnormally high when you have hypertension (high blood pressure).

Because you might not be aware that anything is wrong, high blood pressure is sometimes referred to as a silent killer.

Two numbers make up your blood pressure reading. Systolic blood pressure, which appears as the top number, measures the force exerted on the blood vessel walls when your heart is pumping.

Diastolic blood pressure, which is represented by the lower value, measures the force exerted on your blood vessels between heartbeats as your heart relaxes.

For instance, a blood pressure reading of 110/70 is considered normal, whereas a reading of 135/85 indicates stage 1 (mild) hypertension, and so on.

    Blood pressure categories

Normal blood pressure: less than 130/80 mmHg.

Stage 1 Hypertension (Mild): 130-139/OR a diastolic reading between 80-89 mmHg.

140/90 mmHg or above for stage 2 (moderate) hypertension.

180/120 mmHg or higher: Hypertensive Crisis (get immediate medical attention).

    Types of high blood pressure

Your doctor will determine which of two types of high blood pressure you have:

Primary hypertension (also known as essential hypertension): This most prevalent form of high blood pressure has age and poor habits like insufficient exercise as its causes.

Secondary hypertension:  This type of high blood pressure can be brought on by a variety of health issues, such as kidney or hormone issues, or occasionally by a drug you're taking.

If high blood pressure is not addressed, what could happen?

Stroke, heart attack, peripheral vascular disease, kidney disease/failure, pregnancy complications, eye impairment, and vascular dementia are just a few of the major health issues that untreated hypertension can cause.

    Pregnancy and high blood pressure:

10% of all pregnancies are complicated by high blood pressure. Pregnancy-related hypertension can take many various forms and ranges in degrees from moderate to severe. Pregnancy-related high blood pressure can take the following forms:

Chronic hypertension: High blood pressure that exists prior to conception.

    Gestational hypertension: High blood pressure
