Erin Thompson was supposed to leave the office an hour ago, but the technical support administrator was stuck cleaning up tickets for her support team. The development team rolled out an update for some software the night before which royally screwed most of their customers. For the first time in the company’s history, technical support beat their call volume record of a little over 200 calls in one day. By the end, they annihilated it, capping out around 535 inbound support requests. That didn’t include the emails.

Each call required a ticket to be created. Lucky for her, most of the tickets were easy to close out. She had three technicians still in the office, and the level one manager, who counted as a level two or higher technician for problem tickets. The remaining techs had family to get home to.

She sent a text to her boyfriend letting him know she was still working.

Hey, babe. Gonna be a bit longer. I want to get another forty tickets closed to make tomorrow easier. We’re still working clean up for this stupid issue.

She waited for his response before moving back to the tickets. It would only be a few moments since she knew he was getting hungry and watching his texts.
