What are you, vegetarian? 

No, I eat meat. A surge of adrenaline coursed through his body as the heat in Jules’s eyes flared. She still wanted him. Even if he had only been a means to an end, Jules couldn’t fake that desire. Nico’s erection strained against his dress pants. Damn it. He still wanted her. Five years should have been enough. 

I can show you, my books.

I don’t want to see your books. Nico’s gaze dipped, traveling from the tips of her black leather shoes, up her long legs, and it stayed several seconds at her waist. Once he was done checking her out, Nico returned his attention to her face and stepped around the desk. 

What do you want to see? 

What do I want to see? Nico asked as he stopped in front of her. Your mouth under mine. He clasped her chin between his thumb and forefinger. As much as Nico hated himself for it, he needed to touch her. Nico was afraid that he would always want her. 

What about Amberlyn? Jules asked. Her lashes fluttered as she swayed to get closer to him. Their bodies were separated by only a fraction of an inch. 

What the fuck did Amberlyn Vanconett have to do with anything? He hadn’t seen her for years and could care less when he did see her. She has nothing to do with me tasting your tempting mouth under mine.

Nico Vincent picked up the landline on his desk. Yes?

One of your tenants is here to see you. His assistant, Chloe Jameson’s sultry voice, announced. Although she was in the adjoining office, Nico could only hear her through the phone. One good thing about his new building was the soundproofing that had been installed by the previous owner.

Which one?

Jules Winningham. Nico fought to suppress a feral smile that broke out on his face. The emotion failed to reach his eyes. She was earlier than he expected. 

Good. Send her in.

Are you sure, sir? I can take care of her. 

The throaty tone of the red-haired receptionist grated on his nerves. That’s fine, Chloe. I’ve got it. There was no way that Nico wouldn’t be the one to exact his revenge on Jules. She deserved his best effort.
