    Chapter One

    Present Day

    Jon

There she is again. Emily, I whispered to myself as I watched her walk into my sister-in-law Abby’s Boutique that is located in our families tasting room facility. She was with Abby’s friend Avery and my sister Tess. I turned my attention back to the bottles of our family wine and cider that I’ve been stocking before she had walked in.  I needed to finish this so I could call it a day, but my mind kept wandering back to the night I met Emily.  I can still smell her perfume. I can still remember how her long, red curls fell down her back, stopping just at the top of that nice tight pair of shorts she was wearing.

The opening week of the Tap Room had occupied too much of my attention. Now, with my mind reflecting back on Emily, I feel even more lost. A loud bang brought me back to reality and I suddenly remembered where I was. Back into work mode, I went.

Come on man, how many bottles and kegs do we need? I asked my older brother Marco as another load was dropped off in the back on the loading dock.

It’s a tap room you idiot, we need as much as possible, he said, as he signed off on the paperwork so our Pop could see that it had been delivered here and not somewhere else. The man is paranoid about this new venture.

This is where most of it will be sold, he said with a sideways glance in my direction.

I know that, I just wanted to know how much more, and why are we doing all the work and not Tony and Stefan?

Tony is finalizing the food with Samantha, and Stefan is meeting with Pop and Abby about the line of wine infused coffee beans that she suggested last year, Marco said as he brought another load of bottles into the bar area and I brought in the glasses.

Do you really think her idea will work? I asked, as I started loading up the industrial dishwasher that we had installed behind the bar.

I really do, it's a good idea and the small amount that we tried as a trial sold out in less than a day. If we buy a small coffee roaster then we can roast the beans at the vineyard and not have to spend the extra money to have it one at the coffee shop in Cambria. Pop was shocked that we couldn’t keep them on the shelves. I think he was just trying to humor Abby at first, but I have a feeling he will be listening to her a lot more closely now, Marco said with a smirk. Plus, it reuses the wine barrels and it’s another way to market the wine. I looked at My brother who wore a Giovanni Cellars baseball cap over his black hair. He always had a spark of mischief in his eyes.

Of course he will, I said, as I started helping him with the bottles, wiping them down and putting them in one of several coolers under the bar which was rich mahogany that matched the counters and shelves that created the different bar areas along with steel and glass.

Hey, at least he will be busy with that and leave us alone, Marco said as Tony walked in in the front door.

Talking about dad I see, he said, as he put his clipboard down and took a seat at the bar and grabbed a bottle of water. He lifted an eyebrow.

Yep, I was telling Jon about dad working with Abby and Stefan today on the wine infused coffee beans,  Marco said over his shoulder, as he walked into the back room.

You don’t have a problem with her being part of the business when she’s trying to get her fashion line out to the public, do you? I asked, as I put beer and tall glasses in the cooler so they would be cold on opening night.

I don’t have an issue man, in fact, when I asked her to marry me I told her I wanted her to be part of the business. Anyone that we bring into this family will be part of it. That’s just the way it is. She knows that I valued her opinion. And trust me, she puts just as much time into her fashion line and store as she does with this idea, Tony said with a smile.

I nodded, two of my brothers have found love; one is happily married and the other one is just waiting for his wedding day. I want what they have, I’m kind of envious of them. How often does that happen?  I have never clicked with any
