43 YEARS OF PRAYER - Eric Davis

    43 Years of Praying

    God’s Miracles in Today’s Times

This book is about my journey and my ride with the Lord.

In the beginning, I can remember back to when I was two years old. My first memory is at an airport. We were picking my sister Danielle up from visiting my dad. My next memory is of me at my great grandma’s house at the age of three. She would make me jelly and mayo sandwiches for lunch. I can remember different things from my childhood, which are still important to me to this day. As a kid, I did not know anything about the Lord, but what my parents taught me and what I learned in Sunday school.

In church, I would see people dancing and shouting and falling out as they praised the Lord. I never knew what it meant, but I thought that some type of spirit had overtaken their body. We learned about Noah’s ark and the story of how Moses set God’s people free from slavery.

Now all through these years, I would hear plenty of stories of how good God was as a kid, but I could never really put two and two together because I had never seen him for myself. So to me, it was just a follow the leader type of deal. My mom and family believed, so I believed too.

Now up into this point of my life, and this point being around eight years old, everything was pretty and peaceful. My mom was always home with us. We went to church three times a week, and on weekends my grandmother would pick us up and take us out for ice cream. Then in 1987-88, my great aunt, who was the one who would take us to church, passed. She always made sure we were in service and knew every Easter and Christmas speech.

    She was our spiritual foundation.

So, around the time of her passing, my mom was given her house to live in or do whatever she liked. We wound up moving out of the projects into our first house, which was right next to another project. That being said, it was a bad environment. Now I don’t know when my mom started using drugs, but I can tell you when I started to see it. She was not the same person she had been in the projects we moved from. She started being away from home all the time, and I could see a change in her demeanor.

As a kid, I did not
