Still, I rise from the dirt 

As I laid my demons to rest 

Scared to death

Twisted souls will try to keep you in the dark 

So you don’t grow to be the best. 

While I was blinded

I taught myself to accept things that were not meant for me

When I surfaced my vision and tuned into my soul 

I understood my purpose in this world

I am woke.

I own this NEW life.

Dead Weight

Her life was a war zone

She carried her parents’ weight so well

Hiding the pain and tears 

Raising herself

Going through trials and tribulations

Not understanding what the hell was going on

She knew this obstacle was a heavy burden 

She told herself it was time to stop hurting

It was time to live up to her expectations  

Breaking generational curses and maintaining to be sane

She finally learned to throw this dead weight away.

I pay homage to those girls

You know…. 

The girls who swore to always have your back no matter what

The girls who slithered their way into your life with a hidden agenda, to attempt to destruct your peace and purpose

You had me fooled once but all those troubles instilled strength and knowledge within me.
