About this ebook

Explore the mystical poetic journey of life, pain, love, and self-realization through the eyes of a black woman in western society. In understanding the strength and gracefulness of a Swan, one can observe the beauty of evolution against the obstacles in which it has persevered—presenting a perfect combination of durability and delicacy. This book speaks to those who feel lost, as well as those who have overcome adversity. This piece of work truly displays the power one can achieve through transcending the illusion of limitations.

To Mrs. Flossie McCutchen, the woman that gave me invaluable lessons and taught me at an early age to tap into my own strength, courage, and allowed me to observe her in her greatness. You created a foundation for the legacy of my family to carry on to this day. You continue to speak to me and watch over me, proving once more that your love is so unconditional for me that even after transitioning from the limitations of this realm you still have my back. I love you eternally and hope that my actions reflect the elegance of the woman you taught me to be.

To Denise Williams, you once told me you felt your purpose was to be a vessel to bring forth your children in the world so they can accomplish the things you felt you were not able to do during your youth. I feel your purpose is so much more than that. You have taught me to trust in myself and my gifts. You have shown me my potential even when I didn’t want to see or hear it and taught me never to let the world wipe away the fight in my spirit. You are a mother, a teacher, a friend, and most of all a good woman that deserves all the happiness in the world. While you have taught from your own mistakes and you at times still battle through acknowledging those mistakes, you continue to wear a smile and stay positive amid so much adversity sent your way. For that I am proud.

To Tony Lyte Robinson, you taught me what it means for a man to be a father, protector, and provider for his children. You were the first man to love me as I am and love me enough to correct me when I’m wrong. In speaking to me with love but unfiltered honesty you’ve opened up the path for me to continually
