Introduction
Success Curry for Student’s Peak Performance is a practical handbook that aims to enhance students’ academic performance. This book has been written in simple and easy to read language without using any technical jargons. Authors have extensively studied books on performance enhancement and interviewed a group of high performing students. Authors also had a privilege to work with a group of students with academic difficulties. Subsequently, authors have identified ten main domains which potentially determine the academic performance of students. Authors found that an individually tailored student’s performance improvement program is essential for academic success. Students should ideally work with their mentors while working on different student performance enhancement program components. Mentors will not only support them to sustain their motivation; but they will also provide them with an opportunity to receive constructive feedback about their performance and will help them to identify their potential barriers to progress in study. Student’s Success Curry has incorporated all evidence-based and time-tested strategies throughout the entire course. While some of the strategies are easy to master; however other strategies may require persistent trial and error before developing mastery of those skills. While strategies of Student’s Success Curry are predominantly self-development-oriented skill; however, some strategies such as liaising with teachers and communicating with parents are aimed to develop the teamwork environment.
This book is written in simple layman English language. The writing style of this book is conversational, and the content is easy to follow. Authors did not want to give a didactic presentation but wanted their readers to have two-way communication with the author. The complex theoretical concepts were deliberately not discussed in detail in the book to keep the book’s presentation nice and simple. All technical jargons have been simplified into layman’s terms to facilitate students’ understanding of what they need to do. Pictures and tables are incorporated into the book to tailor the content to school students’ cognitive level. A separate page has been specifically dedicated for worksheets so that students can easily takeout a photocopy of the page. They can use it for homework assignment during the attendance of the course.
Nowadays, students are usually overburdened by their school homework. Additionally, high parental expectation also put them under enormous stress. Thus, it is unrealistic to expect from students to read a lengthy book about academic performance enhancement. Authors felt that if the students want to take this book to their educational institution to discuss their performance enhancement plan with their mentors, it will be easier to fit this tiny book into
