Find your inner swot

ALL courses have those subjects – the less glamorous, often theory-based subjects that you have to mentally will yourself through. But what if the knowledge covered in these classes turns out to be crucial for your future career, life or direction? How do you persevere and motivate yourself to get through these subjects?

As the teacher of one of what is regularly described by students as a “boring business subject”, I can see that the first major hurdle is for students to overcome their preconceptions and give both the subject, and themselves, a chance. If you are facing the prospect of a subject that doesn’t fill your cup with anticipation and joy, there are some strategies that can help you approach your studies with new-found enthusiasm and interest.
