Autumn Whispers & Summer Shouts - Roselyne A. Lewis
Dedication
This book is dedicated first to God the Creator and Lord of every season, who has blessed us with them. To my late earthly father who blessed me with the courage to pursue God’s call on my life, and to you who have allowed me to come into your life with this book, thank you!
Acknowledgements
I would like to acknowledge and thank first my husband, David Lewis, who has held my hand through this whole process and encouraged me to keep going. He also helped with proofing and ultimately was the one who urged me to publish, believing in me when I did not believe in myself. Debra Thompson who helped with the first editing. James Sila, life coach per excellence, who helped me find my way back and define my purpose. To the Trilogy Publishing staff, who worked patiently and tirelessly to bring this book to fruition. Finally, but most importantly, the small groups of women who have already trusted me, allowing me to walk with them through their seasons using this book as a tool. It has been an enlightening journey. God bless you all!
Introduction
I began this book about ten years ago when in courtship with my then fiancée now husband, Dave. I had shared with him that I wrote, and he indicated that he was interested in reading some of my material. In a spate of inspiration one day while standing by the window of the apartment I lived in during Autumn, the first page of the book came to be, and I sent it to him. He loved it and asked if he could see the rest. Well, much as I tried to think of what would follow nothing came and now in retrospect, I realize that it was a book meant to be lived and I had yet to live the rest of it.
Four years later the rest came tumbling out like a dam; the words and tears flowed as I poured out my journey in the book. I marveled at how God used it to bring healing and insight into what I was experiencing in life. Each time I worked on it, whether while editing or completing a section, I felt brought to my knees by the sheer grace of what God had seen me through, and the wonder of how He helped me see it through the eyes of mother nature.
Probably because I had never experienced the four different seasons before coming to America, they spoke to me profoundly, helping me put in words what God was doing in my heart and still continues to do.
It has been an intense journey where ‘deep calls to deep’ Psalms 42:7. Acknowledgement of pain that I was not even aware I had, and weaknesses that would have in other circumstances broken my already fragile soul. In the safety of the Father’s heart, with His help, ability to truly see was born.
My hope in bringing this book to your hands is to offer a tool that the Father helped me create in order to assist me to walk through the intricacies of the many layers of my heart (of my wounded soul), to let deep really call out to deep. It is my belief that we all desire to go deep and within ourselves, with others and with God. To know and to be truly known. This is not a journey for the faint hearted or the halfhearted, when taken with a genuine desire to let God walk us through it, we come to the place where we know or have begun a journey into our deepest recesses. It is not a one-time journey; it is a place that has to be revisited several times or temptation to go back to the shallow is great.
This is a book that should not be rushed through just as one cannot rush through life and find meaning. It is a journey that can be taken personally but is probably more effective with at least
