    This book is dedicated to my wife, Lauren.

    Lauren, you have truly been my guiding light that has led me out of a dark, depressing place I thought I would never escape. You are my light, my best friend, and the love of my life. I have never laughed with someone so much and enjoyed everything in life in such a magical way as I do with you. It is to you, my love, that I dedicate this collection of poems. I love you.

    These two small collections of poems were written during a three-year period where I was exposed to something that I wasn't as familiar with as I once thought. I was living alone for the first time. I always had roommates before. I had just started a new job as a personal trainer making just enough money to pay rent, bills, buy cans of tuna, rice, and max out a credit card.

    Being alone for the first time was liberating,
