Oh, Those Days! Memories Through Poetry - Walter A Wheat
He Held My Hand
When I was lost, He held my hand
I thought my love was gone
Through years of tribulation
He encouraged me to carry on
He comforted me when I was lonely
He scolded me when I was wrong
At times I felt I had lost my faith
But He encouraged me to be strong.
He held my hand in sorrow . . .
Oh, how I used to cry
With sincere and open conversation
I learned of His reasons Why
Then I briefly looked all around
To discover what blessings I could see, and
There it was . . . another miracle and
It all happened in front of me!
He often mentioned Jesus Christ
Who is the Savior of us all
He’d say: "Believe in the word of God
And your problems will seem small."
Take out your Holy Bible
And read a line, or two
Then ask yourself in question of
What is it that Jesus would do?
Recently, He moved into
His mansion up above
While He was here, He taught me
The meaning of everlasting love
For many years, I will think back
To when He helped me to understand . . .
If you need help along the way, then
Jesus will gladly hold your hand.

Are You Fearful?
Are you fearful that you may die alone?
Are you fearful that you will miss your friends?
One must take into consideration that
This is not how your life ends.
Think back to all the friends you’ve made, and
The adventures that have come to pass
Jesus will be joining you, so
You will go to Heaven in First Class!
Are you fearful of that journey?
Well, I can assure you this:
Your travel will be splendid, while
There is no trickery amiss
You may ride on Heaven’s train
You will have company on your trip
There are many routes to Heaven . . .
Perhaps you’ll travel there on a ship.
Are you fearful of the water?
Would you like an ocean cruise?
Jesus will make things easy
It’s His power that one can use.
Are you fearful that you won’t be comfortable?
Or that you cannot see along the way?
Jesus knows what you are feeling . . .
Simply trust Him on that day.
Are you fearful that your life anew
Will be hard to comprehend?
Once again, I will assure you that
Jesus will bless you in the time you spend.
Then, think about the luxury
That, in Heaven you will receive
Old friends will come to greet you . . .
They have no intention to deceive.
Are you fearful that you will not comprehend
Why Angels fly about?
Or why those in attendance may seem
Both stoic and devout?
Imagine a world where one has no need
Of physical nourishment, or drink
Where one will walk those streets of gold . . .
Tell me, what do you think?
Brother and Sister, we will be together
Jesus will extend
