DEDICATION

In 2013 I had an encounter that changed my life. A person I knew well, who loved Jesus and was a part of the Cloud of Witnesses, came to me in a dream and said, While I was in the earth I never told you I loved you. I wanted to do that now. I love you. Also, it is better for you to surround yourself with people who love you well than it is to surround yourself with spiritual people.

This book is dedicated to the handful of family, fathers, advisors, mentors and friends who have surrounded me and Loved me well. Without you, this book would not have been written.

And I will give you the Treasures of Darkness

INTRODUCTION

I want to share a deep place in my heart with you. It can be summarized in one word, transition. This place of transition I am talking about can be painful, especially when you have to give up many of the things you have sown your life into. However, transition can also be a most freeing, liberating place, full of the Presence of God and full of Grace. Many times transition can seem as the loneliest of places but I am here to tell you it does not have to be. In fact, it can be the pivotal point in never feeling lonely again. Transition is a state of being that, according to what we choose, can be the hardest time or the best time of our life. We can live a life of constant increase from a place of consistent rest while continually being established in what is being revealed. Increase cannot exist apart from change and this is the momentum of a transcendent life. Foundations of A Transcendent Life is my feeble attempt at bringing a blueprint out of ‘darkness’ that practically outlays the process of consistently walking in said momentum without having to wait for the next move of God.

For me the process of transition began while I was in Bible College. Many of you have heard parts of this story so I wanted to put it together in a short way to demonstrate how change began in my life and how I began to enter into this constant transition and increase. It began with pure unadulterated desire. When I first went to Bible College, I had just exited some very tragic, hard times in my life — literally rock bottom. After being in that place for an extended time I knew deeply that God was my only solution. Up until then I had lived a life of extremes in everything I did. I decided in my heart to turn the pain towards God and go for nothing less than all of Him. It was so deep in me there was nothing that could distract me or pull me away from this unrelenting pursuit.

The extent to which you change during transition will determine how much your conclusions align with what God is trying to take you into. Understand this — just because you are transitioning does not mean it is time to cut off relationships. It does not mean we must alienate ourselves from others because they don’t understand. What it will do is reveal the basis and the foundation of the relationships we have cultivated. If they are based in love, then no matter how much you change, they will remain strong and stand the test of time. This is especially true with family and covenant relationships.

This book was birthed during a very special time in my life and how it was written is totally unique from the other two books. I was traveling and speaking at conferences around the world and it was almost my birthday. The next place I had conferences was in South Africa, so as a birthday present to myself, I went to visit Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Zambia. One of the people who this book is dedicated to decided to come and meet me to spend my birthday week with me. I arrived a week early to spend time with Jesus but when my friend arrived I found out that two other friends had been planning for months to surprise me and join us at Victoria Falls, as well as for a safari. As a group, it was one of the most special times I have ever experienced. While on the way back to the lodge from an epic safari, I entered into an encounter that birthed this book. This book is already written in Heaven, just as the last two were. My instructions with this book were to read it in Heaven, study it in Heaven, learn it in Heaven, apply it in Heaven, have it engrafted in my Heart in Heaven and then write it in the Earth with the help of Heaven.

The help of Heaven I am directly describing is The Cloud of Witnesses. Until now I have not been able to talk about or describe the specific group that began to sow this into my life. They are called The Desert Fathers and you will hear of them often in the future. They are now beginning to engage the Earth in a broader perspective, sow foundational revelation and open doors that lead to realities that would offend most. I first began to engage with them about nine years ago and everything you read in this book has been operational in my life for about that long. I am never allowed to write about anything that has not been worked in my own heart and life. You can imagine my surprise as I was
