Blaque Diamond
Blaque Diamond, born Bianca Johnson in the fall of 1989, always had a love for reading. Instead of playing outside with the other children, she could always be found with her head buried in a book somewhere. She enjoyed the magical adventures her books took her on every time she turned the pages. When she was eleven years old, she was urged to pursue writing as a career choice by her fifth-grade teacher. Blaque Diamond always wrote poetry and children’s stories as a hobby, and also as a form of therapy. She did not have an easy-going childhood, so writing was her way of escaping her harsh reality. Her teacher took note of her ability to tell a story and encouraged her to explore and develop her skills more. To Blaque Diamond, writing was her only way to express what she felt inside without saying exactly what was on her mind. Writing poetic proses and creative stories allowed her to make her voice heard through her own words. As she grew older, Blaque Diamond began taking her teachers advice. She always involved herself in writing related activities in school, especially creative writing classes. She was always interested in learning about different forms of writing and the different styles. Her love for reading the written word, then became her love for writing. She loved the idea of creating her own stories. She took pride in the passion that poured through her words. Blaque Diamond took the first initiative to get her work published in January of 2017 when she submitted some of her poetry to be published in an anthology. Blaque Diamond submitted four poems, and three of them were chosen, hence her publishing journey first began. Since then, she has went on to publish several more publications as a self-published author with many more publications to come. When she’s not writing, Blaque Diamond enjoys traveling, cooking, spending time with friends, mixing up her next batch of homemade body butter, reading a good book, shopping, and anything else she has a mind to get into. Blaque Diamond categorizes her genre of writing as Contemporary African-American Fiction, which could fall under genres such as urban fiction, African-American romance, urban drama, or African-American fiction, and of course, poetry. If you would like to keep up with her latest releases and other happenings in her life, check out her website and subscribe to her blog.Http://www.writerblaquediamond.com

Dream Paramour - Blaque Diamond
Chapter One
I scrolled down the web page, checking on the edits I had just finished making to the charity website. Everything had to be perfect! Nothing could go wrong, or I wouldn’t hear the end of it. This charity event meant the world to my boss, Mr. Calvin Bailey, so I was doing whatever I had to do in order to make everything run smoothly.
I have been working at Building Blocks, a construction company located in Greensboro, North Carolina for about six years now as the office manager. I love my job and the benefits that come along with my position. There are two other ladies who work in the office with me as well. Rosaline is a beautiful thirty-three-year-old married Latino who works as our receptionist, and Dashana is a thirty-year-old African-American sista like myself, who works as my assistant office manager. She helps me when my workload gets too much to handle, like it does most of the time.
Rosaline was situated at the front of the office behind a sliding glass window where she could greet the new or existing customers when they arrived. Her silky long black mane flowed down to her waist. Her dark-brown eyes were light and full of excitement. The ankle-length floral dress she wore fit her petite frame perfectly. She also had a yellow flower tucked on each side of her hair to match the yellow flowers on her dress.
Across from her was the waiting room for the customers. Eight comfortable hunter-green padded armchairs were spread throughout the area in pairs with small brown wooden tables in between each set. Some of the latest magazines, brochures about the company, and newspapers were neatly arranged on each table for the customers perusing pleasure as they waited to be seen.
There was also a thirty-two-inch television mounted on the wall tuned into the local news station. Customers also had the option to indulge in ice-cold filtered water, hot coffee made fresh, and pre-packaged snacks were located on a table in another corner of the waiting area that was self-serve. We tried to make sure that our customers were comfortable and satisfied while waiting for their scheduled appointment.
Dashana and I shared side-by-side matching offices. There were only a few minor differences in our workspaces. My computer chair was a heather gray, and Dashana’s was black. I also had a heather gray rectangle eight feet by six feet rug in front of my desk and a matching round trash can. Dashana didn’t have a rug. Our desks, file cabinets, and computers were all the same black.
In between where Rosaline worked and where our offices were located was the common office area. Here the industrial paper shredder, wireless office printer/copier, fax machine, and two six-feet tall file cabinets were lined up against two walls. From my office, I could see Rosaline’s workstation.
While I was busy in my office updating the charity events’ website, Dashana was preoccupied at the copier printing hundreds of fliers that we would pass out all over town. Rosaline was expertly cradling the phone between her ear and shoulder while she vigorously jotted down notes based on the caller’s instructions. The office was a flurry of activity as we all completed our assigned tasks. This charity event only comes around once a year, so it was top priority.
Mr. Bailey’s seven-year-old daughter Jasmine, suffers from a rare eye disease that is gradually causing her to go blind. At the present time, there isn’t a cure for the disease, so Mr. Bailey hosts a charity walk/run every year to raise money to find a cure. He has been hosting this event for the past five years hoping that the money donated and raised will someday help researchers find a cure. Ophthalmologists, optometrists, eyeglasses and contacts manufacturers, and any other local business in the Triad area dealing anything with the eyes, sign up every year to walk or run in this event. It is a great cause, and I am proud to be a part of the planning, preparations, and execution of this successful charity event.
I quickly glanced up at the heather-gray trimmed heart-shaped clock mounted in a corner of my office to see how much time I had left.
Ten more minutes,
I muttered aloud as I pressed enter to move to the next line.
Huh? Did you say something Trinity?
Dashana asked, turning from the printer with a stack of fliers in her hands.
Oh, nothing girl. I was just speaking aloud how much time I have left before the meeting with Mr. Bailey.
Looks like you have about nine minutes left. You know how he is about punctuality,
she commented, glancing at her wristwatch.
Tell me about it,
I said with a sigh.
Are you almost done updating the site?
No, not hardly. I still have a ton of pictures to upload along with adding articles and external links to products for customers to purchase.
Well, I’m almost done with the fliers. After I’m finished here, I can take over updating the website for you while you meet with Mr. Bailey,
Dashana offered.
Oh, thank you so much Dashana! You’re such a life saver,
I said with a grateful smile.
No problem, Trinity. We all have to help each other out. We all know how important this event is to Mr. Bailey. I’m happy to help wherever I can.
If you need any help, Dashana, I can help as well,
Rosaline added, turning around in her rolling chair as she hung up the phone from her last call.
Great! We will have everything done in no time,
Dashana replied, turning back to the copier as more fliers slid out.
Trinity, Mr. Cooper and Ms. Vincent are both going to be on the blue team. Mr. Green and Mr. Baxter said they would like to be on the orange team, and Mrs. Monroe would like to be on the red team,
Rosaline reported, glancing down at the legal pad she had taken notes on.
Excellent! The teams are filling up quickly. Just about every team has at least forty people. Well, I guess I better go meet with Mr. Bailey,
I said as I stood from my desk.
Yeah, you better,
Dashana said with a sly grin on her face. You might not want to keep him waiting too long. You just might get punished for being late. But that probably won’t be a punishment to you. You might actually like it.
Ooh, you are so bad, Dashana,
Rosaline giggled like a schoolgirl.
What is that supposed to mean? What are you talking about girl?
I asked with an eyebrow raised in confusion.
You know exactly what it means,
Dashana said laughing. Rosaline and I both know you have the hots for Mr. Bailey. It is no secret Trinity. You practically undress the man whenever you are in his presence. I feel sorry for the poor man. If he only knew.
I do not,
I denied, trying to hide a shy smile.
I could feel my face slowly growing hot. My peanut butter complexion definitely revealed that I was blushing, so I couldn’t deny what Dashana was saying wasn’t true. I did have this insane sexual attraction to Mr. Bailey. He is married, but that didn’t stop me from wanting him. His handsome caramel toned face, almond-shaped dark brown eyes, and killer white smile placated me many nights in my dreams. He was tall at six feet two inches with a nice physique. He worked out religiously, so his body was perfect. He was just the kind of man I liked, but unfortunately, he was married, so he was off limits to me.
Smoothing my hands down the length of my navy pencil skirt, I removed tiny wrinkles that had formed from me sitting. I tugged down my tan button-down blouse which had slightly risen up in the back, then I retrieve my manila folder labeled charity run/walk
off of the top of my desk. I quickly thumbed through the folder to make sure I had everything. Everything was there. I made my way out of my office to get the meeting underway.
Folder in hand, the heels of my navy pumps clicked against the tile floor as I turned left and strolled down the hall to Mr. Bailey’s office. Once I reached the closed office door, I lightly knocked to announce my arrival. I had only been waiting a few seconds before I heard his sexy deep baritone voice grant me access to his office. Slowly opening the door, I stuck my head in to Gage the scene before I completely opened the door and stepped inside.
I silently closed the door behind me as I noticed that Mr. Bailey was on a phone call. He gave me the universal wait one moment gesture as he waved his hand in front of his desk, indicating that he wanted me to sit. I pulled out one of the soft-cushioned chairs from in front of his desk and sat down, crossing my long toned legs and sitting the folder on my lap.
My eyes aimlessly gazed around the office as Mr. Bailey continued his phone call.
Yes, I understand. Mhmm. No. I completely understand. Mhmm. Right. Right. Yes of course. Uh… We’ll see.
I could only here his end of the conversation as he spoke to the person on the other end.
The huge picture window behind him was covered in drapes that were a rich dark shade of burgundy. The sun shone through the open drapes giving the office a peaceful ambiance. Pictures of Mr. Bailey, his wife and two adorable children graced the beige colored walls along with a few expensive one-of-a-kind paintings.
Over in one corner of the room sat two overstuffed chairs that matched the color of the drapes. There was an elegantly hand-carved oak wood table separating the two chairs where some of the latest magazines were displayed. The table coordinated perfectly with Mr. Bailey’s over-sized oak wood desk. By the design, I could tell that they were both crafted by the same skilled carpenter. Over in the other corner of the room he had a mini fridge, microwave, and something he liked to call his Coffee Station
where he collected exotic coffees. Some of the coffee he drank, and others were there just for display.
I lightly tapped my fingers on the closed folder as I continued to wait for him to finish his call. After another few minutes, he finally hung up the phone with a long-drawn-out sigh.
How are you doing this morning Trinity?
he asked.
I’m fine, Mr. Bailey. I should be asking you that question. I can tell by the troubled look on your face that something is bothering you. What’s going on?
One of the sponsors has backed out of the event.
What? Really? Why?
I asked in rapid succession.
Yes,
he replied with another long sigh. It seems that they had a choice of 3 charities that they could sponsor. They did a process of elimination, and well… We weren’t the chosen one.
Oh no. We only have three days until the event. Where are we going to find another sponsor this quickly?
We aren’t. It’s too late to try and find someone new. We’re going to have to make do with what we already have.
Are you sure about this, Mr. Bailey. We’ve all worked so hard to get this event together for the past few months. I don’t want to see anything happen to all our hard work.
Don’t worry, Trinity. Nothing is going to happen. The show must go on. This is only one sponsor backing out. We still have the other four sponsors backing us. We’re going to be okay. It’s just frustrating to have them back out at the last moment.
You’re right. We will be alright,
I quickly agreed.
Well, everything else still seems to be on track. This is just a minor setback, but everything will work out fine. These things happen all the time, so I’m not going to worry myself about it and run my blood pressure up. So let me hear what you’ve been working on this week.
I proceeded to give Mr. Bailey the rundown of all that we have done so far. Everything was just about ready for the event. We just needed to tie up some loose ends, then everything would be perfect.
I took notes of additional things that he wanted me and the rest of the staff to get done before this coming Saturday. The suggestions that he gave me were great and would help to make the charity event more fun and enjoyable. This was a family event, so we would make sure that there were plenty of activities for the children and adults alike to enjoy.
How many people are we expecting this year? We had a great turn out last year,
I asked.
Hmm… I’m guessing about three to four thousand,
he said, rubbing his chin as he thought. Who knows? There could be more.
"That would
