About this ebook

Andrea Gordon loves her job. That’s not the problem. The problem is her boss- or rather how she feels about her boss. What she feels can never be revealed, for if Evan Price were to ever realize his trusted assistant had more than professional inclinations towards him, she would be out the door faster than he could call security.

Focus and Determination

Evan Price clawed his way out of poverty, through dyslexia to become one of the city’s most prominent businessmen. Thanks to a few wonderful teachers in his youth that never gave up on him, he vowed to always pay it forward. His company’s yearly charity ball does just that.
Luckily, his proficient assistant coordinates everything so that all he has to do is show up, mingle and make a speech.

Masks can be revealing

A night of dancing and disguised passion leaves Andrea more confused than ever. Little does she know her boss has never been clearer of his next acquisition.

    Hearts Disguised - Savanna Grey

    A Note from Savanna:

Writing a book is like being Alice In Wonderland. You never know where the rabbit hole you’ve just gone down is going to take you.

My family doesn’t always get that. They see me go in the writing den, come out and occasionally shower and put on fresh clothing, and go back in until I’ve met deadline.

I didn’t think they were really invested, that was until my husband came up with the idea for this story one night while we were watching television in bed.

He’s always supportive of whatever endeavor I might be involved in, but I didn’t think he understood.

He continues to surprise me, even after 17 years of marriage.

I’m grateful for his encouraging words and his excitement about something I love doing.

Thank you, Sweetheart, for being a man I love and respect and am blessed to call mine. I love you dearly.

To my readers, I thank you yet again for your belief and support. You are amazing!

To Margie, I don’t know what I ever did without you. Your assistance has become invaluable.

Lisa, thank you for introducing me to Margie! Love you ladies.

    CHAPTER ONE

Ms. Gordon! Andrea Gordon looked up from the reports she had been reviewing and inhaled a relaxing, deep breath and reached to push the intercom button on her desk phone.

Mr. Manning is on his way up, Mr. Price. Grinning, she stood straightening her dark grey pencil skirt. Gathering the stack of folders, she walked the short distance to her employer's office door.

She raised her hand, fisted to knock, as the booming voice once again came through the intercom.

Do you have the Calder reports ready?

Rapping three times, she waited for his permission to enter.

    Come. He grunted.

The office light had dimmed with the setting of the sun. The desk lamp illuminated the large mahogany desk and shed a soft yellow glow around the office. Behind it sat Evan Price, President and CEO of Price Enterprises and Andrea Gordon's employer for the past two years.

The lights of the city twinkled in the background as she looked out from twelve stories up.

Her lips curved upwards as she walked toward his desk. His dark brown hair was mussed where he had been running his fingers through it. His tie had been undone and hung loosely around his neck, his jacket draped on the sofa arm beside the desk.

The Calder reports, Sir. His head raised at the sound of her voice, his vibrant green eyes not really focusing in on her.

Just set them down. I've got to finish these contracts tonight and have them sent out. He was already looking back at his computer screen.

I've taken the liberty of ordering Gino's for you. It should be here shortly.

Any issues with the reports? he grumbled.

Yes, Sir. I highlighted the section for your review. Will there be anything else? She paused, waiting for his dismissal.

You aren't leaving, are you? his brows were furrowed.

Of course, not. I will be in the conference room with your mother. Just buzz the intercom if you need me.

My mother? He looked down at his wrist. It was just after seven o’clock. Why is my mother coming here at this hour?

She contacted me earlier. She and your father took in an early dinner. He had an after-dinner meeting, so she asked if we could go over final details for the Literacy Ball.

Does she not know what time it is?

Andrea's laughter slipped out before she caught herself.

    Do you?

Meaning? his eyes had narrowed, staring her down. Most people wouldn't dare to question him, and they certainly wouldn't laugh at him.

Meaning the apple doesn't fall far from the tree apparently. I... The ringing of her desk phone interrupted them. Saved by the bell.

Ah, that would be your dinner. She backed out of his office and took the elevator down to reception where Gino's delivery boy was waiting with Ron, the night shift security guard.

    Hello, Ms. Gordon.

Hi, Charlie. How are you this evening? How goes the school work? Charlie had been delivering dinner for the past year on late work nights, which was at least twice a week.

It's going good. Passed all my exams before the holidays.

    Way to go. Congratulations.

Thanks, Ms. Gordon, and thanks for the tip. Have a good night.

You too, Charlie. See you soon. She smiled and waved good-bye as she turned to Ron.

Let's see what we have in here. Oh look, we have an extra Chicken Parm with your name written all over it. Imagine that. It must be your lucky night.

She pulled out the extra meal she had ordered and handed it over to Ron.

You are the sweetest thing to do that. Gino's makes the best of everything. Ron was the nicest sixty-year-old man Andrea had ever met. He always made sure she got to her car safely when she worked late. The least she could do was feed him.

Enjoy, Ron. I'll see you in a little while.

Don't let Mr. P. Keep you too late. You work too much as it is.

I couldn't agree with you more. A polished, feminine voice said from behind.

Mrs. Price. So good to see you. Perfect timing, as always. I was just on my way back up.

Hello, Andrea.  Thank you for meeting with me this evening. I'm glad it fit into your schedule. You know how important this ball is to my son and the foundation.

Of course, I do, and for good reason.

They rode the elevator up the twelve floors to Price
