Dungeons and Dragons Cookbook - Fantastey Inc.

    Introduction

    M

any fans will agree that the classic game known as Dungeons and Dragons is an immersive and fulfilling experience. This is thanks to the ingenuity of the gameplay. D&D combines killer storylines with valuable life lessons. In addition, it acts as a wonderfully creative outlet for its players because it allows them to explore mystical worlds through their own, personally developed characters. Unlike many other games that attempt to give players agency over their gaming experience, D&D actually achieves this by giving players true freedom to do what they want and undertake the adventures that appeal to them most. In the world of D&D, anything is possible.

As avid gamers ourselves, we believe that food can take you on a journey. And what better journey to embark on than a visit to the intriguing and exciting world of Dungeons and Dragons!

Other books have attempted to create D&D-inspired meals for fans in the past, but one issue readers repeatedly expressed was the lack of fun, party-friendly recipes in D&D cookbooks. Dungeons and Dragons is a social game, often played in groups at parties, get-togethers, etc. Yet, cookbook authors seem to forget this as they constantly leave out sharable, easy to snack on, party food foods that people can enjoy. Just because D&D was loosely based on ancient Europe doesn't mean your friend group will always be in the mood to snack on mashed potatoes and pot roasts on game night.

That's where we come in! We created this book for fans who want delicious meals, including fun snacks, inspired by D&D with a modern twist!

This book contains 50 dishes for you to enjoy at your next D&D game night or simply when you are feeling nostalgic about the series. All the recipes in this book were either inspired by or mentioned in the D&D games.

    Enjoy!

    RECIPES

Blue Cheese, Walnut and Pear Pizza

On his daily walk into the woods to forage, a peasant had the fortune of coming across an entire flatbread, generously topped with crumbled blue cheese, just resting on a tree stump. Without hesitation, he snatched the special meal and looked around in hopes of finding more. To his pleasant surprise, a Treant had left a trail of ripe pears and walnuts in its wake in its pursuit of a threat unknown to the hungry peasant.  The hungry peasant seized the fallen food and eagerly topped his bread with fresh pear and crushed nuts. And for a brief moment, content and full, the peasant felt like a king.

    Time to prepare: 20 minutes

    Serves: 4

    Ingredients

    1 high-quality flatbread, store-bought

    4 oz blue cheese, crumbled

    1/4 red onion, thinly sliced

    1 garlic clove, diced

    1 pear, sliced thin

    2 tbsps olive oil

    1 tbsp honey

    1 tsp. fresh thyme, minced

    Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 400°F

Heat a tbsp of olive oil in a small pan or skillet on medium-high heat. Toss in red onion and saute them until they are soft.

Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Remove garlic and onions from the pan and set aside.

Take your flatbread and brush with the remaining olive oil. Then, top the bread with red onion and crumbled blue cheese.

Place the pear slices atop the flatbread. Garnish the flatbread with fresh thyme.

Put the flatbread onto a baking sheet, and bake it for 10 minutes or until cheese has melted, and the bread looks crispy at the edges.

Remove bread from oven and drizzle it with honey.

    Cut into slices and serve!

Chef's Tips: You can replace fresh thyme with fresh Rosemary instead for a delightful and flavorful variation if you like Rosemary.

We enjoy using the flatbread from the brand Stonefire. Choose a high-quality flatbread you enjoy so it does not turn out soggy.

    Knight's Pistachio Crusted Maple-Glazed Salmon

A fallen knight was offered his last meal before his beheading.  Of every meal he could have requested, he chose a regal meal of salmon fillet enrobed in pistachio nuts, baked in a tortuously indulgent maple glaze. The dish was prepared with ingredients of the utmost quality, by chefs of exceptional culinary skill- all in an effort to best satisfy the knight, so that he would not return in his death as a malevolent spirit, to avenge his executioner.  Luckily, there's no need to wait till your life's end to taste this scrumptious meal – savor this fancy dish by following this easy recipe.

    Time to prepare: 25 minutes

    Serves: 2

    Special tools needed: food processor

    Ingredients

2 salmon fillets, skinned and boneless (8 oz)

1/2 cup + 2 tbsps pistachios, roasted (salted or unsalted)

    1.5 tbsps breadcrumbs

2 tsp.s dijon mustard, ground and course

    2 tbsps maple syrup

    2 tbsps olive oil

1 tsp. lemon juice (cut extra slices to add to the finished plate later)

    1/4 tsp. pepper and salt

    Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Chop the pistachios with a food processor, making sure not to grind them too fine so that they become a meal or flour. The idea is to chop them lightly. Alternatively, if chopping by hand, use a broad knife and chop to a medium-fine consistency.

Add pistachios and breadcrumbs in a medium-sized bowl, and mix together.

In a small bowl, add olive oil, maple syrup, lemon juice, mustard, salt and pepper. Stir well.

Put the salmon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Use a spoon to drizzle the fish with the lemon mixture. Then add the pistachio
