WHY I WRITE

today I tell you that at night

when dreams visit me

when the soul opens its doors

when it breaks its chains

feelings are released

that I thought were forgotten

those faces come back too

that accompanied my life

while I converse in my sleep

with the memories kept

I relive that feeling

that still keeps my memory

and I thank God

for having allowed me

to nourish my old age

with so many dreams fulfilled

that’s why in the morning

when the sun bathes my bed

I am happy because I have traveled

in the train of my memory

that my life has been a dream

but a dream come true

that the love I have left behind

returns multiplied

my heart is stirring today

when it remembers those days

that I fought with enthusiasm

to reach my destiny

today there are many memories

that at night visit me

to show me in my dreams

that will not be forgotten

I must leave them stored

written in the morning

where I keep them hidden

my dearest secrets

today that’s why I write them down

with the enthusiasm of an old man

so that I will never forget

even if many years go by

because I have lived moments

that I thought I had already forgotten

because they come back to me
