let's get a bigger house

we can live on opposite sides

and meet in the middle

for tea and some lovemaking

here we are in our bed of lies

another day in something

that should never have been

we have lost it all now

our friendship

even our humanity went

you should have rejected my first kiss

friends should never be lovers

we should have known better

it has been too long since

you wrapped your arms around me

since your eyes drank me in

your fingers at my lips

stealing my breath with every touch

a crashing so intense

it is shattering my soul

my skin is peeling off

from the pain

i cannot bear it

my favourite thing at breakfast

is strawberry jam on toast

a cup of coffee black with a teaspoon of sugar

i cannot stand the taste of coffee

every morning i watch you eating toast and jam

i hope someday you will notice my untouched coffee

you’re the morning star

orbiting my sun like a dance

i wake up each day

waiting to greet you with the dawn

i remember when you spilt

hot tea on your lap

screaming so loud the neighbours came

lazy Sundays on the couch

thinking about our future

dancing in the kitchen while

figuring out how many ounces in a cup

all over this house

are our love hangovers
