Letting Love, Letting Hurt, & Letting Go - Jocelyn Diaz
Letting Love…
sleep drunk
i like us the most when
we’re intoxicated off
the moon and her night sky
when we laugh at things
that make no sense
when we say things
in our own language
but my favorite part
is when we close our
eyes to the lullaby that is
our beating hearts and
gentle breaths
stranger that i’ve known
dear stranger,
i’ve probably seen you around and you’ve probably seen me around, but maybe our eyes just barely missed each other while our minds were in the same place. to be completely honest, you’re something straight out of a movie scene; a coffeeshop soundtrack, a pile of autumn leaves. you’ll never know how much of an impact you’ve had on me, honestly. poetry written, songs sung, thoughts that i would’ve never thought of. i don’t mean to sound like ‘too much’ or come off too strong. so, i gotta hand it to timing, she's a real one. you bring out a side of me i thought only existed within my wildest dreams. only a couple nights that felt like straight out of a movie screen. i like you and i like who i am with you. and i’d be okay if you said you didn’t feel the same way as i do; but thank you. for nights like these where i don’t need to put up a fight. in this moment, i’m not in love. i am in like. i like you a lot, and i can see myself loving you.
and like i said, it's okay if you don’t feel the same because you really don’t have to. so, hey, stranger, let's exchange albums. you’ll find me hidden within each word. i really like this song
i probably sound like a nerd. track 2, second verse. i’ll be there. so, call me? okay bye.
sincerely,
lonely girl with something eyes.
if you see her
i see myself lying at the bottom of a cushioned cliff
where the skies are pink, the lies are white
rose colored glasses on, ignoring all the signs
and i don’t mind
i lock eyes with her and come to realize
love is waiting on me to give her the green light
it's kind of confusing and i think i know why
it's usually me waiting to fall into her sky
but she sees the eyes i have for this guy
and love wastes no time
i lock my emerald eyes with her
and she sends him my
