()
About this ebook
Aurora Aisling
Aurora Aisling writes to find release. Instead of revealing her vulnerability, she opens up to herself with pen in hand. Aurora was raised in Tennessee where she found love, even as she watched as it walked out her front door into the arms of another, that love still lives.

A Broken Lullaby
i loved you first
i’ll love you last
even though our love
was lost in the past
i know there’s been time
between then and now
but i haven’t yet picked
my heart up from the ground
now it’s all covered
in dirt, grime, and dust
what point is there to wash it
the pain is the same as what it was
why can’t i let you go
leave you in the past
how do you know the right time to call
that you always pull me back
i love you
but you made your feelings clear
so why are you randomly calling
filling my head with your tears
always just one phone call
never anything more
and it goes back to the way
i was treated like before
it’s like you’re pressing the knife
deeper into my skin
you take it away
then do it all over again
i can only take the pain so long
until my veins run dry
when finally there’s nothing left
and you’re wondering why
i’m here now
just the way you left me
every bruise still on my heart
clear to the naked eye
i keep my feelings silent
emotions held in check
my tears only shine
when i’m tucked inside my bed
sometimes i can’t help it
when a song plays in the car
on the way home from work
i can’t stop the tears that spill
lord knows i would gladly give you
my last breath of life
if only i could only hear you
say i love you one last time
i begged god for mercy
every time you went away
but i guess that he was busy
because it never came
so, still i’m here waiting
for the day you change your mind
when i can look into your eyes again
and kiss your cheek goodnight
always-n-forever
A Disappointed Dream
tell me… tell me…
wont you please
why you so this
it’s cruel and mean
what point is there in talking
if you don’t mean what you say
why bring up old feelings
if you don’t intend on coming back to stay
i wait for you hoping
you’ll walk back through that door
but i’ve learned the only point to any of this
is you’ll just hurt me more
i let you go before
and i’m sure i can do it again
you may not be skilled at pretending
but an actress i have played
my smile is as stiff as plastic
and my laugh is surely fake
just as long as you’re happy
i’ll make everyone think i’m ok
i don’t need you to call me
to remind me of the pain
don’t tell me things to hurt me
the straw already proved too much weight
the only thing i can do is survive
because i know you wont come back
always-n-forever
A Lesson Before Dying
-i didn’t kill no man-, he said
my head hung low in defeat
how on earth can i rise above
while the devil grips my feet
-i didn’t kill no man-, he said
but time has passed away
i’m sitting here
day after day, week after week
-i didn’t kill no man-, he said
from quiet whispers, now to screams
nobody around will listen
angry, i grit my teeth
-i didn’t kill no man-, he said
but what does it
