Acknowledgement
To myself, for being courageous enough to step up and out, and be the change maker. May my learnings inspire and nudge others to take some form of action so that they too can stand in their power and acknowledge ‘who they are, matters’.
To my siblings and family, who not only shared my life journey but stood by me through thick and thin. May all the lessons we learnt as a family motivate you to be the best version of yourself.
To my friends, whose loving and fun camaraderie kept me sane and pulled me through the ups and downs of life. May we continue to support and lift each other.
To all the teachers and mentors who crossed my path, especially my father and ex-husband. Thank you for all the lessons taught and all the insights gained. My life has transformed because of each and every one of you.

Foreword
If you are reading these words, then you are truly in the right space.
If these words are resonating with you, then you are ready, this is truly your time.
If you are willing, let these words guide you home to the heart of pure love, the essence of who you truly are.
You might be feeling sad, alone and stuck in a world of chaos and fear.
You might be experiencing the anger, hatred and despair of this outer, insane world.
Your circumstances may be so intolerable, and yet, you just know there is a better way.
You may have heard your teacher’s whisper, and if only for a moment in your mind, flashed back to remembering the heartfelt feelings of joy, belonging and possibility.
I am a student of life, living joy. When I am not my true creative self, rather being in the time and space of chaos, sadness, and dis-ease, my teacher gently appears to guide me from the insanity of my ego-minded thoughts to remember that I have just forgotten who I truly am.
Sujata Prasannan is such a teacher, and indeed, so much more as you will discover.
In September 2014, some six years ago now, I met Sujata, and our paths divinely connected for which, I am forever grateful. I am often reminded of courage, as I remember Sujata reading aloud, and so articulately, the letter of forgiveness that she had written. This was truly an inspiring moment, so timely and so powerful, at this significant turning point in my chaotic, ego fear-minded world.
In telling her own inside out journey to empowerment, Sujata teaches the truth, and openly reveals to you, how to rediscover your inner essence, and powerfully guides your transcendence from the outer illusionary world of chaos and fear, to being you.
You will find in this book simple, practical tools which, if you will, guide your return to love, the truth of who you really are, and to the inner power that is.
So, I can remind you that being you really does matter. Returning home to where your inner peace, harmony and creativity reside, is indeed an inside out journey to empowerment.
I believe, as Sujata teaches, that we are all unique with much to offer each other. All that you have experienced has led you to where you are right now. Where you go from here is up to you.
I encourage you to embrace the tools Sujata has presented in this book, to accept the teachings as the truth, to take back the power that is, and to be you. A prosperous world of joy, peace, harmony and abundance awaits you.

ADDITIONAL PRAISE FOR
SUJATA PRASANNAN
Dear Reader,
It is my great pleasure to present to you this book by Sujata Prasannan who, for me is courage, resilience and strength personified.
We have ‘e-known’ each other for quite a few years now, but what an honour it has been to witness her journey inside out, while she was writing this book.
Her decision to share her story was a difficult one in the beginning, but her commitment to supporting other women who are suffering silently was far greater than her fear of being seen and being judged.
Through this book, Sujata demonstrates how she took back the power that she had given away to the world, all thanks to the subconscious imprints of social conditioning, cultural norms and generational patterns while growing up. She has finally broken the vicious cycle of ‘abuse giving rise to unworthiness which in turn only gives rise to more abuse’, paving the way for other women to do the same. Through this book Sujata has reclaimed her voice, and how!
I invite you to walk this path that Sujata has laid out for you so you too can reclaim your worth and your voice because it’s time you fully acknowledge the fact that you are unique and Being YOU Matters!
Think of this book as a lotus flower of the heart chakra - each chapter is like a petal with its unique power. Regardless of the fact that a lotus grows in muddy water, when all the petals open up, the flower signifies power and beauty. Exactly so, when you work through the practices explained in each of the chapters and claim your power back, you shall experience the wholeness of who you truly are.
Enjoy the journey and keep blooming!

PROLOGUE
Adversity has the remarkable ability of introducing the real you to yourself. - M.B. Dallocchio
My intention behind for writing this book and sharing my experiences along with what I have learnt is to help and support anyone who may be or has been in a similar situation. In hindsight, I honestly wish I had some guide or help then, to understand and support me through my journey. To realise, that for most of my first three decades of life, I grew up not even knowing that I was growing up in an abusive environment and that it was not acceptable,
