The machine in question was something he called a multiverse tap. The theory was that for every possibility there was in the world, there was a universe in which it happened. For every choice someone made, there was a universe for each resulting possibility. When someone was asked if they wanted chicken or fish for dinner, there was a universe where they ate chicken and one where they ate fish. They were otherwise completely identical up until that point.

The multiverse tap literally tapped into the other universes, breaking the barriers between them. It did not allow travel between universes, but if the machine worked as Aidan had designed it, he would have the power to pull aspects of other universes into this one. Say, if he wanted to make his cock bigger, all he would have to do is find a universe using the multiverse tap where he had a bigger cock and then pull that into this universe. Not that he felt the need to be bigger. Aidan was happy to be average and a bigger cock would just get in the way.

The fact Aidan had been able to build this machine secretly while he was in graduate school for a degree in applied astrophysics was a minor miracle in and of itself.
