Tiny steps
Stevie blamed Rob. She hadn’t wanted to go in the first place. It was a weeknight and she had a busy schedule the next day. An hour’s boot camp at 7am, followed by two back-to-back personal training sessions, then a meeting with a new client. That was the trouble with being self-employed. She always felt it counter-productive to turn down work.
‘It’s an early start for me, too,’ Rob reminded Stevie gently.
Rob was a police officer, though his day was spent mostly sitting in front of a computer, chasing criminals more metaphorically than literally.
That’s how they’d first met. Rob had found her on the internet – Stevie Sands, personal trainer. He needed a little help to get into shape, and he liked what he’d read in her testimonials.
She’d been drawn to Rob immediately. She liked how his work ethic matched hers. His time was limited, he said. But he was going to nail this.
