W here is that girl? Tara asked as she threaded her way through the crowd.

She had not expected Esme’s birthday party to be so raucous. Esme had always preferred quiet nights at home. This party was anything but, with loud music and numerous strangers dancing and getting drunk.

Tara had arrived with Ariana, another of Esme’s friends. The pair had split up when they arrived, looking for Esme. Ariana had taken the upstairs and Tara had taken the downstairs. They were supposed to meet back up near the front door when they had finished searching.

Her head turning on a swivel, Tara looked high and low for her friend, but was unable to spot the shy and introverted Esme. The greater concern had been whether Esme had been forced to host the party against her will. She hated going out, so it seemed even less likely that she would turn her house into a club for the night.

It did not take Tara long to search her part of the house. She even checked the backyard for her, but with no success. There was no one matching Esme’s description.

There were, however, a surprising number of well stacked and scantily clad women, both on the dance floor and anywhere else there were men gathering.
