    The Perfect Girlfriend

It was our last night together. In the morning, we would make our drives back home, each of us going our separate ways. Every year the four of us got together for a long weekend at the beach. Three nights of drinking, games, and general debauchery. And the one rule we all lived by while we were together was no men. That meant no boyfriends, no fiancés, no husbands, and definitely no hookups. It was girl time.

It was not uncommon for me to read anywhere from three to six books per week.

However, this was one moment when I did not have a book out in front of me. It was sitting back in the cabin we were all staying in, just a little ways up the beach, waiting for me to start into it before I went to bed.

Hey, do you see that light? Mercedes asked as she
