Isaid goodbye to my friends. It had been a great weekend together. I always loved getting to see Sofia, Mercedes, and Paula. But I could tell that we were growing apart. They were all involved with their jobs and their relationships. In that regard, I was still floundering a little. Most of my life was working a dead end job, making enough money so I could go to concerts every weekend. That was my life and I was eager to return to it.

However, unlike my friends, I was not returning home immediately. I was sticking around on the coast, because there was a band I wanted to see playing at a casino a few miles up the road. When I did travel, I usually did so based on available concerts, but this time it was just pure luck that the scheduling worked out.

I had offered my friends the chance to come too, but they all turned me down. I’ve got to get home to my boyfriend and my job, Wendy, Mercedes had told me. The others similarly turned me down. Their loss.

Of course, once they had all left, taking their cars to return home to the city, I was left with nothing to do. I couldn’t stay at the beach cabin we had rented. We had needed to clear out so the cleaning crew could come in and get it ready for the next guests. I could have sat out on the beach or found a bench in the little town down the road, listening to music all day. That would have been a fun
