Pinterest is an online image-based bookmarking and organizing tool with some social network characteristics.

 Images are pins and are grouped together in boards on users’ accounts. Think of a Pinterest account as a filing cabinet—boards are like the drawers and the pins are like the files in the drawers

 Still images and other media can be directly uploaded to an account, but most pins are images pinned (shared) from websites or blogs and link users back to the source of that image

 All Pinterest accounts are public and can be followed by other users. When a pin is added to a board, followers of that board can see that pin in their home feed where they can then engage with the pin in several ways:

 Pinterest can be accessed on the web or by the mobile app available for Android and iOS devices
